Garmin Almost Dead

the past month or 2 my gps (garmin etrex legend) has been throwing fits. every once in a while the screen gets lines all through it and i would have to restart the unit to fix it. sometimes a gentle tab would work but tonight it is worse. sometimes it wouldnt turn on, and evertime i turned it on it had horizontal lines all through it and was flickering a bit. Anybody else have these issues? if so i wonder if its worth sending back to garmin to get fixed. it would be the 2nd time in 3 yrs that i have sent it back to them. maybe i have a lemon, because everyone else seems to have good luck with garmin products. this sucks because i was just getting ready to load up some waypoints for a good day of caching tomorow.

The bad ribbon connector contact that causes the display lines is a known problem with the eTrex series and Garmin has sometimes agreed to fix them even after the warranty is expired. It's at least worth a try or two to see if you can get a sympathetic tech rep.

very interesting link. thanks.....i am somewhat handy when it comes to fixing stuff, i may give this a try.
