+Beverfly
Apologies if this request has already been submitted. I just got notification of a "DNF" on a cache, and I wanted to confirm that this was the first time that it had not been found. To do this, I had to go back through all the log entries. Is it possible to put a "Cache Stats" entry on the page, either for the owner or for all users, to tell at a glance how many times the cache has been found, DNF'd, maintained, etc? Thanks. Bev. +webscouter.
If you use Firefox for your browser you can install this fine script. http://gmscripts.locusprime.net/Totals_By_Log_Type.html Link to comment
+Markwell
Come to think of it, you can get even more detailed with some other display options... From my APE cache it might be nice to see it in years by type: OR - have a "condensed log" page that shows the log in this fashion: February 4 by biggeeks (238 found)February 2 by markwell (339 found) February 2 by Beverfly (117 found) February 2 by webscouter. (1459 found) ... ...with the plus sign giving the ability to see the entire log. Edited February 13, 2006 by Markwell Link to comment

Mushtang
I'd like to see the stats on the page broken down too, but I think there are enough people that dislike stats that will complain. Do a search, or read the forums long enough, and you'll see that plenty of people don't like stats and are trying very hard to get them removed completely. These people can't let us enjoy stats if they disapprove of them. For some reason they don't want to ignore the numbers themselves, they want to make us work to uncover the stats. These same people get all pouty when an idea that they recommend to the site isn't implemented. Your idea isn't new, but it's still a good one as far as I'm concerned. I'm just not going to hold my breath waiting for it. Link to comment
+Markwell
This isn't really the typical "stats" question though. Usually when "stats" come up, it's in regards to how many finds a CACHER (person) has - not how many finds a CACHE (box) has. This would also not be an aggregate for anything more than how many times a cache has been found, not found, noted, maintained, etc. Link to comment
+StarBrand
I too would like a stat summary of the logs on my caches - I also like Markwells idea of a year by year breakdown. Link to comment
+Markwell
BTW... Can you tell in which year the APE cache regained it's APE Icon Status? Link to comment

+The Blue Quasar
The APE icon is why I'm watching it. Because it is very rare. That's not to say I want more rare icons.... Geocoins already spoiled that. Moun10bike coins are still cool, like APE Caches. I'd drive 10 hours one way for the APE icon (plan to this summer), really doubt I would for any other icon. +Beverfly
I understand the frustration with users who are all about numbers, but I think this might help responsible cache owners... if a lot of DNF's show up for a cache rated 1/1, maybe the rating, description, or hint needs to be changed... but a user maintaining a lot of caches may not pick up on the pattern without a heads-up display. I like the other ideas to sort it by year and provide a summary, also. Bev. Link to comment

They'd object to the numbers being emphesized in any way. Hopefully I'm wrong, the cache pages will be updated, and nobody will think it's a bad thing. That would be nice. Link to comment

I agree with you about responsible cache owners. Cache ownes should always maintain their caches and looking at DNFs is important for that. That should occur whenever you get a DNF notification. I don't necessarily go out to the cache but I immediately look at that particular one to see if there are comments from finders that might suggest a problem. The pattern of problem also comes about fairly easily when you see two or three very recent DNFs. So, I guess the stats thing might be OK, and I'm not against it, but it just doesn't seem necessary to me to figure out what's going on. JDandDD Link to comment
