Parking is tight so hug the shoulder and don't block the gate. You can be towed.

From Bellevue going North or the I-5/I-405 Junction going south...

From I-405 At exit 23, turn onto Ramp to WA-522 / US-2 / Woodinville / Wenatchee

Take Ramp (RIGHT) onto SR-522 11.9 mi WA-522 / US-2 / Woodinville / Wenatchee

Turn RIGHT onto Ramp 0.3 mi Monroe / W Main St

At roundabout, take the FIRST exit onto Tester Rd 2.8 mi

Turn LEFT (West) onto Old Tester Rd 0.1 mi

Arrive at the above coordinates.

MS S&T estimated the time at 30 minutes from the middle of Bellevue.

I plan on being there at 8AM starting the hike no later than 8:30.

The hike profile looks to be under 5 miles RT or we can add another 2 miles to capture 2 more caches not on the list but I will have info on them in the event we want to go for them at the right juncture. Figure to add another 15% to that based on how inaccurate these maps can be.

Fixed.

I'm still planning on doing this from the other direction (e.g. top to bottom) sometime in the fall. I am instead going to do some more in Everett and the surrounding areas with Recdiver, Talks2Animals and LittleBlue.

Ok, convinced the geo-ignorant spouse I needed to spend some "me" time if he wanted a happier home life so I'm definately in. What time should I leave if coming from Wenatchee? I'm routing at 2.5 hours but that seems a L O N G time, was thinking more along 1.5 hours. Also, about what time are we thinking we ought to be dragging our sorry butts off the trail? Will it make any sense to drive back home at night?

I figure we'll probably be done within 6 hours so driving home shouldn't be a problem. I don't remember if I saved my track file on the way home, but it seems to me 2 hours was about right. As it is, I won't be able to check it tonight until late due to a poker game that got scheduled and I don't have the cojones to tell my boss I can't make it after the awesome raise he gave me.

I'm going to have +2 and a puppy with me and won't be taking the most direct route over as #2 will be a pickup in the sticks in Duvall. Perhaps you might hook up with Kealia and pick him up on your way in?

Depends, do you go the speed limit or not worry about such things? :cry:

1.5-2 hours sounds about right if you are doing the speed limit...especially at the time you will be traveling.

With good weather predicted for this weekend, it looks as if the scheduled closure of Northbound I-405 will occur.

On Friday, June 23rd at 10:00 PM, all four lanes of I-405 Northbound near NE 124th St will close and remain closed until approximately 5:00 AM on Tuesday June 27th. A narrow 2-lane bypass will funnel traffic around the construction area. At times, buses, trucks and other large vehicles could cause this to effectively become a 1-lane bypass. This stretch of I-405 handles approximately 5,500 vehicles per hour on a typical Monday afternoon commute. These bypass lanes will only be able to handle a maximum of 3,000 vehicles per hour. A minimum 45% reduction in vehicle traffic through that area will be needed simply to maintain a typical Monday afternoon commute, which is not very pleasant to begin with. Major delays are anticipated throughout the construction with impacts to connecting routes (I-90, SR 520, SR 167).

Alternate routes will be the order of the day!

BTW, I think Robinego needs to change her name to Robin-a-go-go! She was still zipping up the hills at the end, leaving some of us in her dust.

I didn't remember to turn my track on, but a rough estimate (from TOPO!) is at least 4.5 miles. I'll be interested to see a track log also.

My track has 5.58 miles. It looks like I had 2D in a couple of spots, but it seems fairly accurate. I'll try to have it posted tonight or tomorrow.

Btw, my welts are finally going down but they still tickle.

A few stats and then the Google overlaid track log. We hardcore cachers that took to the tall grass trekked 5.58 miles. Those that stayed behind and also took the steep shortcut back, trekked a measley 4.81 miles. So if that hike seemed a little too easy, now you know why. :grin: Also, any cacher who took the steep shortcut down should knock off .18 mile off the total hike.

I saw an interesting artifact happen when I was overlaying the topo onto Google Earth map. The green icons from the KML file shifts when you shift the image. I had to match the location of the highway on both the Google Earth and the topo in order to get close and below is what I got.

I had a blast! Currently at work right now and TRYING not to scratch the 14 VISIBLE mosquito bites on my left arm not to mention all the other ones that are concealed. My patients are becoming concerned :rolleyes: ... Here I thought I was not sweet enough to get bitten....

As far as the grassy field, what a great time! TL obsessing about velociraptos and Jester singing an Ode to Scotland. But MA's eyes take the cake! I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

I do wish we had gone further and gotten the last 2 caches on the next hill...maybe next time...

This bookmark is for the Colonel Bob hike for sometime this month. I'll be looking at athe weekend of July 22 for an overnighter. I figure with all the warm weather, that snow should be pretty close to gone by the time we head up.

I realize there's something happening on every weekend except that of the 8th/9th, but I can't give my buddy that short of a notice and I don't want it to be too close to the WSGA Campout 2006.

This is one where I'll probably hit the road by 6 and start hiking as soon as I get there. So if anybody wants to hike and setup camp together then a convoy would probably be the way to go.

You guys can do what you want. My wife took a significant amount of grief with my stressing out over the car repairs so I'll be spending the weekend with her instead. We'll probably do part of the Old Iron Horse Trail to capture the Ape cache.

August? Not by me. Too many geo events going on that conflict. I'm in the middle of painting a house and we're trying to get this done asap. We have the main portion done, but the trick is in the details.

I'll be on the Olympic Peninsula 9/13-9/19.

I have on my list Mt Ellinor, Col Bob, Git Off My Land, Rugged Ridge, Ozette River Steam Donkey, Ring of Fire and any and all challenging hike type caches up there-especially summits. I also will have my bike and plan to try the Mt Muller loop. Not sure how much I will actually accomplish.....

I really wanted to visit the Manganese Mines but it has been archived. May go there anyhow.

Any recomendations for great or unique scenery?

Anyone want to join me for one of these?
