New Cache

A moving cache often has its "date placed" bumped forward each time that it is hidden in a new spot. A new traveling cache would not be listed as this type of cache is no longer permitted. The one you are looking at is an older grandfathered moving cache with a current "date placed."

Generally, new cache submissions are reviewed in the order in which they are received. Exceptions are sometimes made so that "easier" caches can be published more quickly, while "harder" cache reviews (like multicaches and puzzles) are sometimes postponed until later. Being aware of the perception of favoritism, many reviewers will do their best to get all caught up before listing a new cache they've hidden, or which one of their caching buddies has hidden.

I hope that this explanation is helpful.

:) I placed a new cache over a week ago and it still does not show up yet the travelling Fraser Valley Transport shows up. I don't understand? Is this like all those other boards that is governed by friends and their caches first?

Uhm, you DO of course know that the traveling Fraser Valley Transport cache was placed 4yrs ago, right? I would sure HOPE it got listed before one placed a week ago.

edit: Darn that gurk Keystoner!

OMG!!!!! So much whining lately about caches not getting published in nano seconds of being submitted! Geeze! Doest any body have any patience any more? What does it really matter if a cache is published in 72 hours or 7 days? Is the world coming to an end and I dont know it?

Reviewers have lives and there can be many reasons it wasnt published in 72 hours. Why post here??

If you were a reviewer and someone whines on the forums about their cache not getting published, while your in the hospital having your spleen removed, wouldnt you think that the hider would figure something could have happend?? Life is life and things do happen. Be patient!!!!

Seems like it would be VERY easy to get more volunteers. Maybe the management of so many volunteers is troublesome? If a reviewer having an emergency causes new cache submissions to come to a halt, then it seems like that area needs more volunteers.

Just a thought

Submissions have not come to a halt merely the review of a single one. We don't even know the issues involved.

I'm happy to report that the OP's multicache was published earlier today. And, true to form, the reviewer is proceeding *in order* through the queued submissions.

Nothing too much to see here. Sometimes a reviewer gets a bit behind due to other things. When that happens we either buckle down and clean up the backlog, or ask for help. If we guess wrong about our schedules or the patience of the cache hiders, we see a forum thread. It keeps you motivated.

Throwing more reviewers at the challenge is not necessarily the best solution. The more people you have trying to apply the listing guidelines fairly and consistently, the bigger the horizontal waterfowl alignment challenge. Staff for the average workflow, not the peaks or valleys.
