+briansnat
I was backpacking this weekend and wearing my 60CSX like I usually do, on the belt clip attached to my pants pocket. The trail had solid sheets of ice in spots and at one point I stepped wrong and fell and hit the ice, falling hard, directly on top of my unit. All 230 lbs of me and another 40 lbs in my pack coming down on it. After sliding about 30 feet down hill with the GPS dragging under me, I checked the GPS expecting to see major damage and to my surprise all was fine. 5 minutes later I had a repeat, coming down hard again right on top of my Garmin. I now have a large bruise just below my hip that is roughly the size and shape of a 60CSX, but the unit itself is fine. And next time I'll remember to bring my crampons. Quote Link to comment
+pigpen4x4
Nice to hear that you are O.K. and the 60 is durable. (I have one too) I will add that if it slides off the dash just right and hits a solid object, it will scratch the screen. I suppose I should send it in for repair. Here's what I use for my Venture Cx: It is shown attached to the shoulder strap of my daypack, I plan to use it for my backpack and summit pack as well. These links show a similiar case with a 60CSx: A front view of left strap Side view, showing 2 points of attachment Front view, partially out of case HTH Hermit Quote Link to comment

PP I managed to do this with my Venture CX which did a face plant on the seat belt anchor and picked up a nice four-point "star" on the screen. It was less than a month old so I sent it backto Garmin for repair assessment and they sent me a brand new one without even blinking, even though the damage wasn't technically covered by warranty. Total turn-around time was less than a week. Gotta love that customer service. YMMV. Incidentally the damaged unit still worked fine and the shieldzone screenshield didn't even get scratched and completely covered the boo-boo area, maintaining the waterproof seal. I could have still used it but decided it was worth the $5.00 shipping charge to see if Garmin might fix or replace it. Quote Link to comment
