+Garaelb
12/2/2008 What is the procedure for converting a cache already in exisistance into a TB hotel? The current Cache (one of mine) is a micro, but I now have a vessal large enough to make a TBH - 800 crtg ammo can. I have several coins and TBs to place in it. Do I need to archive the original cache and create a new one, or can I simply modify the current cache page and change it from a micro to a standard cache size? Any additional information would be kindly accepted ~G~ Quote Link to comment
+Eartha
Simply by placing a larger container you have already made it better. You don't have to call you cache a TB hotel to have TB's visit. You might even save a few TBs and geocoins from going missing if it is not labeled a hotel. Make sure it is in a safe place where it won't be found by passers by. Don't put restrictions on it, like "You have to trade one for one" No good hotel forces their guests to stay until a new guest shows up to take their place. And if you feel you must make it a hotel, although any cache is a good cache for a TB, just change the name of it by editing the cache page. It has to be in a safe place, I can't stress that enough. The cache should be large enough to hold large TBs, and by large, I mean a beanie baby-type size, or something the size of a cell phone. And it should be able to hold more than one. I've looked at all of your caches, and I checked out the satellite views of the area, and they all seem to be in very high muggle, very high visibilty areas, that to tell you the truth, I would be worried for its safety if my own TB was left there. But I have not cached in your area, so I can't be certain about the safety of them. I did a search of the TB forums by using the search box in the bottom left, and used Hotel as my search word. Here are a few threads I found on the subject: Bug Prisons Revisited. Travel Bug Hotels, Rules regarding retrieval. Here's a hot one. Cacher Hoarding Travel Bugs TB Hotel, How Do You Know? How do you deal with TB hotel owners who insist on a 1 for 1 trade? How Many Bugs Should Be In An Average TB Hotel? No Matter What I Say. That should give you enough reading for the evening, there are many more threads on the subject. I suggest you read those before doing anything. Quote Link to comment
