Pocket PC Applications

Hi,

 

Sorry if this has been posted before, I have had a look, but cant seem to find anything, and when I search, I get told off because PC is below 4 words

 

Is there any recomendations in regards to what programmes are available for the Pocket PC. I notice there is a nice App for the iPhone, but im not lucky enough to have one of those and am stuck with a Pocket PC

 

I have currently got GCz which is a nice little application for logging the cache, find out information etc, however the navigation functions are a little basic, so have use Google Maps to try and locate the last find, which as a bit hard as the pointer isnt the most accurate.

 

I do have a Garmin which is really good, but that is currently in Portugal, as we left it with the people we went with so they could use it in their final week, so should have that back soon, but I thought having a Pocket PC app would be good for the occasions I cant programme the Garmin, and can just search Caches near my current location and use my phone to track instead.

 

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I use copilot to get myself in the right area and then Basic GPS to find the cache. Both work well.

 

I found a lot of people use GSAK but im not a fan. I use it to create tomtom poi files of the caches which I can use in copilot.

I have been through BasicGPS, BeelinGPS, Igo, Tomtom, geoscout and a few others... but the most functional and friendly bit of software is GCz, and if you have some issue with the current one... hang on for a month , the developer who wrote it is currently in the middle of upgrading it to GCzII...

We use a program called "Cachemate." Works pretty well! We cache with our Pocket PC as well... we just got the GPS fixed on it.

GPXSonar or GPXView. Very simple to use. No tweaking of the PQs, just put them in your PC and either program will use them fine.

I've used all the ones mentioned and find IMHO that GeoScout is the most usable on my Pocket PC BYMMV. They have a Free trial so give it a go.

I use GCzII with my HTC TP2 (Win 6.1) the GPS Monitor (like a compass) walks you right to it.
