NanCycle
Today I received email notification of a "Discovered It" Log on one of my Travel Bugs (TBHVCN) dated 12/31/09 by a cacher in Germany. The TB was in South Dakota at that time (and has never been out of the US), and there is no indication that the German cacher had left Germany. The log states that the cacher saw the TB in a photo; I checked the photos on the TB page and neither one shows the tracking number. So I'm guessing that the photo is in someone's private collection, and I'm hoping that this is the beginning and end of false logging. If not, is there anything I can do, besides deleting the false logs? Nancy Quote Link to comment
BlueDeuce
Delete immediately. To quote Eartha AND THIS MOST IMPORTANT ONE: If you log a bogus virtual log on a TB, or offer your own TB up for virtual logging you will risk having that TB page locked forever. This means, if you never saw a bug, but got the bug number and you log it, that bug is in risk of being taken out of the game. Don't do this to TB owners who inadvertently might post a photo, or someone else posts a photo, of their TB number. Don't log it virtually. It's considered abuse of the system. And it's not fair play. Quote Link to comment
Gitchee-Gummee
You may well find a photo of your TB on facebook or some other "social" website. Beginning to happen a lot! There needs to be an anchor dropped upon the heads of those who post such photos. Quote Link to comment
NanCycle
Well, I deleted the log; and will delete any future logs too. (I read my email.) Thanks. Quote Link to comment
Eartha
It's called maintenance. And you've done a good job. You could even mention on your TB page that virtual logs will not be tolerated (or allowed) and you will delete any virtual logs. If you want to, it's not necessary to state it. You could just surprise them. But with any log deletion, it is considerate to let them know why. Quote Link to comment
