Are you up to this one?

All41 has generously offered to take the first geocachers to sign up on a white water rafting trip down the Wenatchee River. There will be stops to get caches along the route. This is going to happen on Friday, July 2, 2004. If we get a large enough response we will add another trip on Sunday, July 4. This is an adult only event. Space is limited. The first six to sign up get to go per day. If more want to go we will try to get another raft. There will be a small cost of $30.00 per person to pay for the expense of of the equipment. Sign up quickly if you want to go.

I would love to go on a White Water trip like this. I would never do it on my own. I would finally be able to get Pinball!

Unfortunatly, this particular holiday weekend would definatly be out for me. My family would kill me.

I'm in the same boat with everybody else. The timing is wrong otherwise I'd love to go. Thanks to All4one to offer though!

I know the timing is bad. But the water is dropping fast and it will be to low if we wait any longer. So if you can't make it this year we will try to see if we can make this happen again next year.

There will be more caches than just pinball to get on this trip. All41 plans on putting out some more. Sooo, if anyone wants to come to Wenatchee Friday for some fun let us know. Otherwise we will have a blast without ya all!

We would love for MissGoodytwoshoes to come but we don't think the raft would hold up to her footwear!

So, from what I have heard, it sounds like we are going to do it on sunday, july 4. We have all the paddlers we need, minus one, I think. I still haven't heard if Barnabirdies can do it on Sunday, though.

Afterwards, we are planning to have dinner, and anyone can come to that. I think we are going to set the dinner up as an event, so it is advertised well.

Excellent! I'm looking forward to being there. When do we see the details of where to meet up and what we need to bring with us?

Details, Details. . . .

Sunscreen

If you want to swim bring swimwear or shorts.

No Blue JeansThey just hold the water and don't dry out quickly. The water is cold.

Watershoes of some type are good.

Small cache items. They are placeing 5-9 caches out along the way tomorrow but they will be small containers so bring small items for them. There are lots of other local caches also so be prepared.

Camera!

GPS!

More details coming as to the time and coords as to where to meet. We will also be having a caching event for dinner at a local place at 5pm.

Here are the details about the rafting trip.

When: Sunday, July 4

Time: 10am-5pm

Where: The Cashmere Riverfront Park. These coords are to a cache in that park, “Cash-mere Cache”. N 47° 31.498 W 120° 28.084 If you are early, you could do the cache while you wait, or we can do it afterwards, while everyone is milling around.

What to bring:

1.Water shoes or old tennies. Do not wear flimsy sandals, as you want to have a good grip in the raft, and you don’t want to lose them.

2.Swimsuit

3.Sunscreen

4.Water Bottle

5.Sack lunch/snacks for the river

6.If you wear a hat or sunglasses, make sure to bring some that you don’t care about, just in case you lose them to the river.

7.Small cache items in a Ziploc baggy.

8.If you bring a camera, double bag it in two Ziploc baggies. Yet again, we cannot guarantee that the camera will be safe. We will bring our digital camera, so if you want pictures, we can give you some.

9.We have some wetsuits and life jackets. If you have some that you feel more comfortable in, you can bring them instead. It is a little too warm outside for wetsuits, but the water is a little cold if you want to swim. But people do it, anyway!

There is a chance for 10 caches on this trip. One is at the put in (in Leavenworth), and was just put out last week. One is at the take-out (in Cashmere) and some of you have already done it. The rest are along the rafting trip, with some that you can only do by boat. One is a bonus cache, because it is a little tricky to get to. Seven of the caches will not be listed on GC.com until Sunday, but they have been approved. We will give you their information when we all get together.

The river is fairly low and easy, with a few whoo! Whoos! This time of year.

Don’t forget that at 6pm, everyone will be getting together at Royal Fork for dinner! Here is the website for that event: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...fc-3540ca146b0c

And then there are always the Fireworks around 10pm.

Now that was a lot of fun!!!

Early on we snagged a log a blew out a segment of the raft. Fortunately it was the rear portion so after a small discussion on the landing of some private steps, we pushed on through the first half and snagged some caches. During a lunch break at the dam, we had another discussion on whether to continue or not and I have to say the 2nd half was much better than the first half. In terms of rapids, the last ones we hit were truly awesome and I swear MarcusAureleus was looking at nothing but water or sky... straight up, then straight down it seemed.

Thanks Ambrosia and family for hosting this wonderful event! All41, you were a great guide with some funny stories.

Now to dry out my MeriPlat. The gasket gave out during one of my dunkings.

What an awesome day! We had a ton of fun even with the slight mishap. I hope All41 can smooth talk his buddy that rented him the raft for the day.

Now if I could only remember what I left where and which caches I was FTF on. It was kinda hard to take note and paddle. Yeah that's my story and I'm stickin to it.

Hey, I'm glad you all had a great time. But lets get this story straight. Was it really a snag we hit or was it a Miss Goody Two Shoes, shoe that was rafting with us that caused the havic? I found one of her shoes in a geocache and was taking it with me to put it a cache. I went ahead and put it in the first cache we found and you all were able to continue your trip. I think Lucy&rickie have the evidence. A great time was had by all I think and I can now still anticipate getting that elusive cache #700. Now which cache shall it be this time?

Do you have a picture of it? Maybe it matches the missing one :D

Thank you!

I owe everyone a big "I'm Sorry!!!" I had a mental note to get up and get these released on Sunday morning. Unfortunately my mind must have been on vacation and I didn't get them released until a few minutes ago.

It sounds like everyone had fun. Sorry I was being a ditz.

TMJ

Not a problem. I merely figured somebody took the holiday off.

Cheers!
