+The Hokesters
How do we select caches along a motorway for a PQ? I am pretty sure this has been done before. Need to check all caches within a couple of miles of the M5. Thanks.... Quote Link to comment
+John & Hazel
Teasel did a map for the M1 HERE You might find something for the M5 over at GUK Quote Link to comment
+Pengy&Tigger
I don't think you can do it directly into a PQ, but if you have the cache data in GSAK for all caches it's possible. Figure out a few waypoints along the motorway. If it's more or less straight then the start and end of your route will do, otherwise just when it changes direction. In GSAK, go to Search > Filter > Arc/Poly. Select Arc/Line, bung in the points along your route in the Arc/Polygon box and choose how many miles from the route you want to see. If you don't have the caches in GSAK already, then you may need to do a couple of PQs to get the data. For example if I was travelling 80 miles from A to B, I might do a PQ covering 40 odd miles from A and then another one with 40 odd miles from B. For a longer journey you might need more along the route. I would then use the above method in GSAK to filter the ones I needed. T Edited July 3, 2005 by Pengy&Tigger Quote Link to comment
+Pengy&Tigger
Just done a quicky for the M5, using junctions 1, 12 and 31 as the waypoints, and using a 7 mile radius since the lines do not match exactly with the motorway. It ends up something like this: T Quote Link to comment

There was a thread back in Feb asking the same question where DomHeknows, (Andy) posted his useful motorway location list... you can do that with gsak and my uk motorway location list Just use the arcs/polygon feature of gsak (and register it with paypal as it is so worth it) Des & Bren Quote Link to comment

+The Hokesters
Has someone got the PQ query settings for the 'whole' of the UK - I am sure I have seen this before but again I can't find it. Quote Link to comment
+KiwiGary
Check out Mark and Lynns web page, and select the pdf about paperless caching. It has a bit about getting all the caches via PCQ's. Its at:- http://markandlynn.co.uk/Geocaching/geocaching.html Thanks Gary Quote Link to comment
+Pharisee
Has someone got the PQ query settings for the 'whole' of the UK - I am sure I have seen this before but again I can't find it. You currently need 15 PQs to download all the caches in the UK and that's increasing at the rate of 1 a month !!! The PQs are configured to return 500 caches set between specific (and consecutive) dates. In actual fact the dates are chosen to return about 485/490 to give a bit of 'lee-way' for temporarily de-activated caches. If you want the specific dates I use, drop me an e-mail and I'll send them to you. [EDIT...] On second thoughts, I'll post them here 1) 01/01/2000 - 19/07/2002 2) 20/07/2002 - 01/03/2003 3) 02/03/2003 - 13/07/2003 4) 14/07/2003 - 02/12/2003 5) 03/12/2003 - 17/03/2004 6) 18/03/2004 - 19/05/2004 7) 20/05/2004 - 30/07/2004 8) 31/07/2004 - 01/10/2004 9) 02/10/2004 - 20/12/2004 10) 21/12/2004 - 15/02/2005 11) 16/02/2005 - 25/03/2005 12) 26/03/2005 - 23/04/2005 13) 24/04/2005 - 22/05/2005 14) 23/05/2005 - 30/06/2005 15) 01/07/2005 - >>>>>>> Edited July 4, 2005 by Pharisee Quote Link to comment
Deego
wow 5 months and you will run out of PQ's Quote Link to comment
markandlynn
The other thing to do is select all types of cache except for locationless in each PQ Also for the country selection CTRL and click on Guernsey Isle of man Ireland Jersey United Kingdom. I did a one off PQ to get all the locationless in the world which i will manually update if we ever log one. The other PQ to run daily is (using the above settings) updated in the last seven days. You will also need to use the last GPX update column in GSAK to help ensure you have not missed any archiving of caches these then need to be downloaded individually. At present getting PQ's on thursday, friday and saturday is sporadic to say the least so try to avoid these if possible but with only 20 pq's and 5 a day this is getting more problematical. It appears that in the UK as we can travel long distances to get to cache rich areas at the drop of a hat an increased and better pq service would be beneficial. Quote Link to comment
+kitmonster
Pharisee - thanks for the list. I worked out my own and it definitely had some holes in it. I'm amazed so many are bang on 500. Quote Link to comment
