+BigFurryMonster
The Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to: Roy J. Glauber "for his contribution to the quantum theory of optical coherence" "for their contributions to the development of laser-based precision spectroscopy, including the optical frequency comb technique" John L. Hall & Theodor W. Hänsch "for their contributions to the development of laser-based precision spectroscopy, including the optical frequency comb technique" ( http://nobelprize.org/physics/laureates/2005/index.html ) This last technique is the basis for: "The progress that has been made in this field of science can give us previously unthought of possibilities to investigate constants of nature, find out the difference between matter and antimatter and measure time with unsurpassed precision." ( http://nobelprize.org/physics/laureates/2005/info.pdf ) This last bit is important: measuring time very precisely forms a crucial part of GPS systems. A big "Hurrah!" to them! Directional
Heh. They're probably too busy advancing science to ever go Geocaching. Hope they get out and about often. Yiasou! Quote Link to comment
