About Adopting A Cache

There's a cache in my area that was washed away by the Huricanes. Two years ago. Hasn't been up and running, and the owner said it's fine w/ him If I adopt it- but how? Any Help on how to adopt a cache?

Just get them to fill the form in at

http://www.geocaching.com/ADOPT/

 

And you will receive an email to confirm that you want them, its all done magically from there on

Ask the current owner to go http://www.geocaching.com/adopt/ and to type the GCxxxx number of the cache into the lookup box to start the adoption process, naming you as the new owner. You will then get some email asking if you agree to be the new owner; just click "yes" and it will be yours.

I'm a bit surprised that a cache would sit around for two years without being "up and running." Or, is it archived? If so, there's really nothing to "adopt," and your cache reviewer might tell you to just go hide another cache in the same area, rather than unarchiving the old one.
