+gribbin
Hi. One of my caches has just had an amazing adventure which I`ve just got to share with you. The first cache I ever set was "Lizard Quarry" (GCQ1AY) on the island of Jersey. The cache was hidden in an abandoned quarry at the top of granite cliffs high above the sea & proved popular with locals & visitors. A few weeks ago the ammo box was reported missing. I assumed that muggles had stolen it & that I`d never see it again so archived it & set a new cache further along the cliffs. This afternoon I was gobsmacked after receiving an e-mail from "The Gnomads", cachers from Devon. While out walking along the coast, they had discovered my ammo box washed up on a beach east of Sidmouth! The container had survived the 200 ft. drop into the sea & several weeks floating across the English Channel!!!! Despite being a bit rusty, the box was still watertight and the contents dry. I`m hoping to recover the box soon & reuse it for another cache in Jersey. THIS TIME THE MUGGLES DIDN`T WIN ! Quote Link to comment

+HazelS
That's a great story - especially as during the summer I had a postcard from that cache sent to me by the guy that got the FTF - Philpamandrob!!! What a small world! Quote Link to comment
+Stuey
That's a great story! You sure the Gnomads didn't just take it by mistake from Jersey, then concoct the whole story.... just like Area 51, but more geocachery I am joking by the way, nice one! Quote Link to comment
adrianjohn
Just a note to remind you that moving caches are banned on the website! Quote Link to comment
+The HERB5
The container had survived the 200 ft. drop into the sea & several weeks floating across the English Channel!!!! +Team Marigold
What a fantastic story. Made all the more interesting for us as we really enjoyed doing Lizard quarry while on Jersey for our holidays. (Although I didn't enjoy climbing down to it as I don't like heights) SL Quote Link to comment
+studlyone
Just goes to prove how good ammo boxes really are as geocaches. Its nice to know that your cache turned up safe and dry. Quote Link to comment
