+Oreo Pony
There is a Trail Work Club that is organized here in the San Luis Obispo County area. If you as geocachers have hiked/biked trails at Montana de Oro, Lopez Lake or some of the Nine Sisters, then you've benefited from their efforts. They have a work event each month, September thru April. The one in November is this Sunday. The following was taken from their website: "Do you mountain bike, hike, or horseback ride local trails? Interested in seeing new trails created? Or would you just like to get some exercise amongst good company in beautiful Montana de Oro. Come join Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers, hikers, equestrians and California State Parks staff for a rewarding & fun day of trail building on Sunday, November 5th. We’ll meet at Camp Keep in Montana de Oro State Park (park in the lot on the right side of the road, 1 mile before Spooner’s Cove). Check-in for this TrailWerks event starts at 8:00 am, followed by a light breakfast and safety & tool training. Every participant will be provided an event t-shirt and snacks to eat on the trail. We’ll work from about 9:00 until 1:00. A free Bar-B-Que dinner will be provided at 2:00 pm and a drawing for 15 raffle prizes will be held at 2:30. We will be working on the reroute of Ridge Trail. Please wear long pants and sleeves, sturdy shoes, a hat, gloves and bring a water bottle. Pre-registration is recommended to guarantee a t-shirt and dinner. Volunteers can pre-register on line at trailwerks3cmb@yahoo.com. See you on November 5th!" We plan on attending and hope to see some other geocachers there too. Here is a list of the next events: Saturday, December 9 - Fernandez Trail & Lopez Lake Sunday, January 7 - Morning Glory Trail Super Bowl Sunday, February 4 - Montana de Oro Quote Link to comment
