Scrambled Hedges
I have a new Oregon 400t and Memory Mapr 2004 but can't get the GPS setup to work. Has anyone managed to get this to work and, if so, can you help mne with teh settings? I've managed to save traks as GPX files directly to the Oregon GPX directory but this seems really manual and slow considering my ancient GPs communicated fine. Any help really appreciated Quote Link to comment
splashy
I don't exactly know what you mean, but you can put tracks - waypoints on the Oreg with windows explorer. In order to make a poifile you need poiloader, memory mapr 2004 seems a little old to me, that's programmer ages ago Quote Link to comment
g-o-cashers
I'm not real familiar with memory map but if it is from 2004 it won't support direct transfer to/from the GPS like you might be used to. The Oregon does everything in gpx files. This page has details on how to transfer to/from the unit using gpx files. http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/Computer+Transfer Quote Link to comment
g-o-cashers
I just happened to stumble onto this FAQ on Garmin's web site: Question: How do I transfer a route from Memory Map to my Oregon / Colorado? Answer: Some third party applications such as Memory Map are unable to communicate with the Oregon or Colorado directly as these devices are mass storage devices. In most mapping applications it is possible to create a route on the computer, save it as a GPX file then store this on the internal memory of the GPS. If you are using Memory Map the steps for this are: 1. Create a route using the Route tool 2. Click Overlay and a select Export Visible from the list 3. Select a location on your computer to save the file to 4. Name the file and select GPS exchange file (gpx) next to Save as type 5. The file will now be saved to your computer. Locate this file and copy it (right click then Copy) To transfer a GPX file to the GPS device connect it to the computer and ensure the device goes into mass storage mode. Windows should prompt you to open a folder to view files (if it doesn't then go to the Start Menu > My Computer and double click the Oregon / Colorado drive). From this Window 1. Open the Garmin folder 2. Open the GPX folder 3. Paste the file into this folder (right click then paste) The route will then display in Routes when you next turn on your GPS device. +kevenh
That will work, but if the Oregon is in Mass storage mode, you can export the route as a gpx file straight to the $\garmin\gpx folder from the MM Overlay menu. I use MM2004 ( OT: Where's MM2009 ) Quote Link to comment
Scrambled Hedges
Thanks for all your replies everyone. I've managed to save the GPX files directly to the Oregon from MM now Quote Link to comment
