+Viajero Perdido
I always thought the standard "stash note" (now called "cache note") was a bit wordy. So I tightened it up a bit, and offer it up to anyone who wants to use it. This is a GEOCACHE placed by ____________________________ For more info, see www.geocaching.com, and look up waypoint GC_____________. If you found this by accident, please Record your visit in the log. Re-seal the container carefully; it needs to be weatherproof. Re-hide it from view in exactly the same place as you found it. Thank you! By the way, this game is open to everyone, and you're invited to join us. Here's an RTF version, suitable for copy-and-paste into your favorite word processor. (It should word-wrap narrow a bit better than I've managed to do above.) {\rtf1\ansi\deff1\adeflang1025 {\fonttbl{\f0\froman\fprq2\fcharset0 Times New Roman;}{\f1\fnil\fprq0\fcharset0 Bitstream Vera +Wooden Cyclist
This is a good idea. Making the note ADD friendly will make it more effective for more than just the young folks. Thanks for posting it. How do I use it? I tried copying it out of your post and pasting it into a Word document the saving it as a RTF file. When I opened it looked just like the stuff I had pasted into the file. Skippermark
I like it. But I just get the mumbo jumbo stuff too not matter how I try to open or paste it. Tried saving it as a text file & importing, pasting directly... Thanks! Edited May 18, 2009 by Skippermark Quote Link to comment
+Kabuthunk
Actually, I'm all for this. The current one is very long, and someone who stumbles on the cache by accident... I don't see it being that likely that they will spend the time reading a long sheet of small text. Saved this to my hard drive for future use . Quote Link to comment

When I opened it looked just like the stuff I had pasted into the file. Paste the rtf-text into notepad or something and save the file as plain text using rtf as extention. Then open the file in a word processing program that supports rtf. edit: typo Edited May 18, 2009 by baø Quote Link to comment
+ShotgunPR
I like it! I always thought almost no one will stay more than a minute reading the current note. This one is shorter and straight to the point. Quote Link to comment
+DavidMac
tl;dr Just kidding... I always shorten the note significantly when I print up new cache logs. On micros, the stashnote goes in a block at the very top of the logsheet. Quote Link to comment
Clan Riffster
Heck, I'm not a Twit (I.e; no Twitter account) and I like it. Short, sweet and too the point. Quote Link to comment
+Viajero Perdido
Glad you guys like it. With the original note, I was having to print it pretty darn tiny (6-point font anyone?) just to make it fit in my smaller hides. (I like to tape the note to the inside of the lid.) Thanks to baø for clarifying the RTF instructions, which I neglected to do. Quote Link to comment

+briansnat
A great idea and similar to what I've been doing for years before Twitter was even a glitter. I always found the original letter to be a bit wordy and it definitely didn't fit into most micros. I have some cache notes that say nothing more than "for info contact www.geocaching.com" .
