Forum Timeouts 5/26/09

I know this topic has been discussed many times before, but I don't think I have ever seen it as bad before as it has been today! I've been seeing the problems in many different guises, but in essence, they are all timeouts. It has been very annoying, to say the least. I sure hope that something is done to upgrade this site very soon!

Now, to see if this will post, or time out...

I noticed this earlier as well but couldn't come on to post.

I have all my geocaching mail forwarded from Gmail to hotmail and all the forum mails are bouncing at hotmail but geocaching.com mails are going through. Probably related.

I can only repeat what has been said already. We're working on new forum software to address these issues. Posting about it unfortunately won't make it happen any faster. I'm sorry!

Nate, what would be the slow down in installing new software? It should take what 20-30 minutes at most to install it and have it up and running. So what about the old posts and integration with the rest of the site. Just get a forum up and running that works and tweak it as you go. Leave the old one up for reference. Keep it simple!

I was just letting you know that the problem is getting worse than ever.

I hope it is done with a bit more care, concern, planning and forethought than what you outlined......

and

IPB WARNING [2] mysql_connect(): Can't create a new thread (errno 12). If you are not out of available memory, you can consult the manual for a possible OS-dependent bug (Line: 131 of \ips_kernel\class_db_mysql.php)

After all that, all joking and smart remarks aside is there a projected goal for when you all hope to have the new Server/Software/Solution, etc... in place???

I think that would help ease peoples complaints if they have an idea of when somethig (good) should happen...
