+WOOGIEKIDS
Are religious coins at all in demand? I had a thought to mint one somewhere along the lines of the three crosses on the hill, but wasn't sure if there was a market for it. I tried to post a picture, but I'm just not intelligent enough to figure it out apparently. Quote Link to comment
+WWC-World's Worst Cacher
Hmm . . . I am assuming you are asking if there is a market for Christian Themed coins? The answer is maybe. There have been a few made and there are many Christians who cache and collect coins. That being said, it ultimately depends on the coin design. I suspect a Christian theme'd coin that is both creative and done well would do fine and that one that is just thrown together will not do well. My thoughts . . . Though I am the World's Worst Cacher Quote Link to comment
+MustangJoni
I actually have one with three crosses. It is called "The Ultimate Cache" and it was made by TnT coins at least 2 years ago. Quote Link to comment

Hmmm...I e-mailed coinswag, and I may play around with some designs. I have some other ideas as well. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
princeshoko
depends on which type of religion the coin would be of. Ive seen them of several different paths. Quote Link to comment
+wenzelbub
If you have finished an artwork or maybe can explain your ideas in words, just ask Bryan from GC. He approves all artworks before minting, so he could tell you, if your idea will be ok or not. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=116641 Quote Link to comment
ANDILLYO!
I would tend to think there would be a market for a coin like you are thinking. The premise behind it may not sell as much as the art IMHO. Some might buy it for a cool design while others may buy for the meaning behind it. I would say choose your art carefully and make it appeal to more than your target audience. I am still fairly new to coins but this is what I would try to do if I was thinking of producing such a coin. Just my 2cents. Post a picture when you can I would like to see it! Good luck with it and keep us posted. Quote Link to comment
+MustangJoni
By telling you that there was a coin with three crosses already, I wasn't trying to discourage you from making a coin. Maybe you could have a different theme? Or maybe a new look for the three cross theme? Here is a picture of the coin in question: Quote Link to comment
+TALR Duke
I hav a Christ Centered geocoin from a Church in Washington that makes Christain themed Geocoins. Maybe you can find them, I know I bought it off Ebay but will look and see what Info I still have. Don't give up on your idea, just modify it! Quote Link to comment
+WOOGIEKIDS
Thanks for all the encouragement! I've been poking around, looking clipart online to get some ideas. I'm already thinking of some awesome ones, along the same Christian theme. I'm new to the game, but am already completely hooked. Quote Link to comment

+Team Professor X
This is my favorite "spiritual" geocoin because I slept on mount Sinai and watched the sunset. Unfortunally some years before geocoaching . Quote Link to comment

ANDILLYO!
^ very cool coin! Love the thall shalt track this part! AWESOME!! Quote Link to comment
+WOOGIEKIDS
That one is awesome! I have my initial template done for my coin. It's very rough, but I have some e-mails out to the various minting companies to get prices for artwork/minting. Once I have this done, if I decide it was worth the time/money (which I totally think it will be), I was thinking of doing an entire series of The Stations of the Cross. One coin for each Station. Has that been done before? A quick Google search didn't bring any up. Quote Link to comment
+PengoFamily
No, I do't think there has ever been a serious of The Stations of the Cross. We like Christian themed coins. You should gage the interest in a series. The Stations of the Cross could be an expensive project. Looking forward to seeing any artwork that you post. Quote Link to comment

Depending on how many you plan to mint of each it could turn into a costly venture. EDIT TO ADD: You could also think about some sort of a group project and see if others would be willing to go in on the Stations. Edited June 12, 2009 by Theotokos Quote Link to comment
+WOOGIEKIDS
My thought on the Stations is to mint and release them one at a time. That way the proceeds from one, offset the cost of the next. Quote Link to comment

Not to burst a bubble or anything but that does not always happen. It is difficult to recoop all the costs to mint another coin afterward. But I am still looking forward to seeing whatever you do! +WOOGIEKIDS
True, that's why I'm going to just do the one first, before I go all hog wild on an entire series. I'm getting very excited with the design I'm working on now though! Just waiting on callbacks from the minting folks to get started. Who do you guys like the best? Quote Link to comment
+tzipora
The stations would be half as costly if you put one on each side of the coin. Quote Link to comment
