+Team Mitika
Bug Description: Sometimes there appears some non-utf8 characters and text of other server-contents between cache-description and additional hints. If this happens the "ghost-content" changes on every page-reload. It doesn't matter if we are logged in our not. Tested and replicated with following browsers: Mac OS 10.5.8 - Safari 4.0.3 - Firefox 3.5.3 - no Add-ons Win XP SP3 - Firefox 3.5.3 - no Add-ons - IE 8 Screenshots of GC1VG7W - after a few page reloads: http://www.mitika.de/gc/GC1VG7W_1253516989511.png http://www.mitika.de/gc/GC1VG7W_1253516962132.png http://www.mitika.de/gc/GC1VG7W_1253516934303.png http://www.mitika.de/gc/GC1VG7W_1253516903158.png Edited September 21, 2009 by Team MiTiKa Link to comment
geode hunter
Hi There!, It appears the cache owner inserted them in the description. If you look on the source code of the page they are there in the description. I have seen this group of characters before and have thought about including them in a puzzle cache. I did not translate the page and maybe it is an additional clue or merely a signature phrase of the cache owner. Edited September 21, 2009 by geode hunter Link to comment
geode hunter
I take back my comment. They appear to change after each refresh of the page. They are still written in the page source code of the cache description. Very Interesting, but no help here. sorry. Link to comment
+The Blorenges
These odd characters turn up occasionally in cache pages descriptions from all round the world. It's a "known problem" that hasn't been solved yet. (See Prime Suspect's last post in topic.) MrsB Edited September 21, 2009 by The Blorenges Link to comment
+Team Mitika
For me it seems to be a webserver page-caching or staging error because in some cases there are parts of other cachedescriptions on gc.com. Link to comment
OpinioNate
It is caused by that old fiend UBB Textbox. We're aware of it and are researching substitutes. Link to comment
