currykev
Having some great pics from last month, I thought I'd start the new year with an animal theme. Now you all have new cameras and camera phones for Xmas. The rules are similar to those used in previous months..... 1) The photo must be cache related and to do with a specific UK cache, caching series or caching trip - please include a link to the cache or the GC.... code so we can see where the picture relates to. 2) Two photos per caching team or cacher. (Maybe 3 if you really have an extra pic that's great!) 3) A new thread is started each month, with the OP stating these rules. 4) The winner each month is decided by the winner from the previous month - the new winner starting the thread for the subsequent month. They may set a theme* if they wish. 5) Photos should be recent. Higher credit will be given to photos taken in the current month. 6) The competition runs from the 1st of the month, until a date specified in the OP by the previous months winner. This should give sufficient time for the winner (or other person if necessary) to start the new thread. If you haven't already uploaded a photo, a good tip might be to upload to one of your log entries (it can just be 'post a note'). Then, display the photo and copy the URL to provide a link to the post. If it's not actually relevant to the cache you've used, delete the note and the photo - the URL will still work. On this forum, add a reply and click the small green tree icon above the text box and paste in your URL. Good Luck all. Quote Link to comment
keehotee
Having some great pics from last month, I thought I'd start the new year with an animal theme. Can you clarify this bit - the previous couple of months seem to have been "suggested" theme, with other pics allowed. Are you also allowing leeway - or do the pics have to fit into an animal theme? +currykev
Thanks for asking. Animal it is. Quote Link to comment
zarbi&zarbibird
We visited the UK Wolf Conservation Trust in Beenham, Berks and went walking with the wolves! This one called Mosi stopped to let her pack know where she was by howling, wow, it was amazing! We went on to get the cache in the village GC1GP3F Quote Link to comment
zarbi&zarbibird
We were heading towards GC2GQVD today, when we spotted one of the sheep in the field had got her head stuck in the wire fence! Zarbi pushed and zarbibird pulled and we finally managed to extract her. She ran back to her friends with a grateful baaaa! Quote Link to comment

Stompy
Whilst doing GC1W3WK I saw the most amazingly funny thing that I have seen whilst geocaching. As I walked up the road I could see two horses and riders with their dog coming my way, it looked like they would get to GZ about the same time as me so I slowed up a bit. As they got closer I thought that there dog looked more like a sheep. As they got even closer I realised that their dog actually was a sheep. The sheep was trotting along between the two horses, totally happy - apparantly this is normal for this particular sheep!!!! Quote Link to comment
flipflopnick
Tigg and I go joint caching in order to exercise the geobeagle, Penny. (Its not about the numbers.) Yesterday we went for A Front Row Seat #1: Barf but after an overnight fall of snow the hide was covered by snow. The picture was taken near a bench dedicated to Bob on the edge of Whinlatter forest. Plenty of bikers and walkers despite snow. This foray has been the only excursion we have not found anything. Good walk. Penny was pooped and snored on the way back. Quote Link to comment
trublatmill
The Troodos Mountains in Cyprus. OK it's not in the UK, but we were on a caching trip from the UK. Is that close enough ? Anyway, came across this chap guarding the way to GC1C525. It was hot and good sun bathing weather for coldblooded critters. Quote Link to comment
maiawalli
Here's a curious cow that came for a look on my way home from Lochaline and GCXAPF. It got quite close before heading off back to the herd. I had to wipe the snot off my camera lens after the encounter.... Quote Link to comment
maiawalli
And here's our second entry. As I drove up the peninsula, heading for the ferry after getting GCXAPF, I came across this wee beasty just off the side of the road. It stayed still long enough for me to get a good few snaps. +martlakes
View from the cache! We had about 50 sheep following us at the top of the small fell, and they watched us find the cache from 10ft away! This despite having our pretend wolf with us! We weren't scared. I can't really claim originality on that - it was inspired by a bit from Monty Python & the Holy Grail. Quote Link to comment
The Blorenges
We haven't been out and about a lot this month but we did the cache "The chapel at No. 38" in Bradford-on-Avon last weekend. A lovely spot and the way to the cache was guarded by Archie the dog... MrsB Quote Link to comment
currykev
Last weekend before the big vote. Good, but cold conditions are forecast so don't forget your cameras or phones. Quote Link to comment
Guanajuato
Not much caching this month, particularly not with animals (unless the sprogs count?)! But we got out today, and it was a BIGGIE we spotted! The seldom spotted TarnHowsasaurus... Quote Link to comment
Gackt
Some great photos this month so far. I'm mostly too slow to catch any wildlife, by the time I've reached in my pocket for my phonecam and snapped, the creatures are long gone, which is a shame, I've been so close to some amazing animals whilst out walking, albeit briefly. This month is no different, so instead here's our own Roxy who often accompanies me, actually staying still for a mo, near the final of "South Cerney - Secrete #2 - The Churn" multi this morning.
