tkgeo1
My dad and I were out caching, looking for a multicache several miles from where we live. Once we got to the place, we realized that we had come about 20 minutes too late, as the memorial garden where the first clue rested was closed. We had only planned to get that one cache, as it was late, but fortunately I had prepared 2 more caches nearby. The first one was a simple park and grab, but the second was probably the most interesting cache-box we had ever seen. (The walk through the barely tamed woods wasn't very interesting.) When we got there, it was just sticking out of a pile of sticks, so we hardly needed the GPS to locate it. As we opened the box, our jaws dropped. Inside were at least 40 little film canisters! The cache had said something about the cache being easy to find but hard to log, but we never expected something like this! Only one of the film canisters had the log, the rest had a little piece of paper in it. Fortunately, after opening only 10 canisters, we found the real log. But, this is a cache we will likely never forget! Quote Link to comment
+Mister Kanister
LOL that's a nice one. Now we have found a reasonable usage for film canisters Quote Link to comment

The rest contain little messages indicating you haven't got the right one. One of our all time favorites. Quote Link to comment

+MsMicia
That is fantastic!! I offer my KUDOS to the one who came up with that one!! Quote Link to comment
+king-of-halloween
I got a FTF on Easter one year. The rabbit had left a 5 gal bucket full of small plastic eggs with 1 of them having a logbook. It was fun to do and of course when I put the log back I changed the color of the one you needed to find also That way the owner could have as much fun as I did finding the log. Now think about a even bigger container like a trashcan with a locking lid. JUST DONT DO IT IN MY AREA!!!!!!! Quote Link to comment
+dfx
We've found several caches of that kind over time. The funniest one was just like the OP describes, but the log actually was not in one of the film cans, but rather magnetically attached to the ammo can, disguised as a glued-on stash note! +Viajero Perdido
In a similar vein... I once found a cache that was a huge plastic drinking-water jug, the kind you see on water-cooler stands. It was half-full of film cans, and yep, only one of the cans held the log. Good thing it was in a deserted area - it was pretty noisy shaking the container to get the cans out one by one. Evil and brilliant. Quote Link to comment
+Semper Questio
We had a variation of that around here. An ammo can full of film cans...EMPTY film cans! Nuttin in any of 'em. Zip, nada, zilch, squat. The coords for the final were etched onto the bottom of the ammo can! I came SO close to DNF-ing that one. Just happened to turn the can a certain way to put it back and saw the markings. Another one in the area is a bunch of micros of a gillion different kinds laying all over. Many out in the open, some well hidden. Only 1 of them, of course, was the right one. You could spend ALL DAY out there if you didn't get lucky quickly. I did. Spotted something a little different than everything else. Figgered it was just another red herring but checked it anyway and there it was. Quote Link to comment

+Harry Dolphin
I found an ammo can with eight different containers in it. One had the log in it. Unfortunately three others had papers with log on them. So, some people won't bother even opening eight containers to find the log. One that I enjoyed was a large pretzel container filled with ping pong balls. You had to find the right eight or ten ping pong balls with things writen on them, and use logic to get the coords for the final. Believer me, you really feel silly sitting in the forest going through all the ping pong balls! And then the time to figure out the logic puzzle. It was great! Quote Link to comment
+geodarts
There are lots of possibilities here. An ammo can filled with wine corks, one of which had a a concealed log container, was fun. The one that was a container filled with fake eyes, in a red-dye blood like solution, made a good Halloween cache, even if it was a bit messy. I have a cache filled with small rubber chickens, one of which contains a small bison. Edited February 28, 2011 by mulvaney Quote Link to comment
