I am setting this up and giving it to my grandson for christmas, so I have bought him everything he will need and thought i would print off a couple of searches local to where he lives to get him started, but, I am having problems, I am saving it to my computer, but it is telling me what i am trying to print is not compatable.

Look at the cache page and down a little ways is PRINT and you can choose if you want past logs or not. Click on how many logs you want and you will get a printable page that you can print out.

Thank you I have tried that, but it saves and opens in an adobe file which it says it is not compatible to

impossible, it can't possibly save in adobe because its a webpage

click on any of the links to the right of the printer icon and it should open in a new tab, like this

It may sound a little 'off', but you probably haven't gotten him everything yet. You can purchase for him a Premium Membership. This would preclude any need for printing off a few caches. He would have direct access to all caches.

Of course, he still needs a user-name and an account with geocaching.com (requiring an email address).

Now, not knowing what you meant by "everything", I am guessing that he has internet access/computer/smart-phone -- or is that included in "everything"?

...snip...

Not impossible if the OP has a PDF writer set as default printer.

It's completely possible. It's called printing to a file, a practice which is no longer common now that printers are affordable enough for everyone to have one sitting on their desk. Windows defaults to printing an XPS file if no other printer is installed or set as default.

OP: Have you made sure you installed the driver for your printer? Make sure you select the printer you want to print to in the Name drop down menu on the Print dialog box.

It's really unnecessary to suggest a Premium Membership for this. I can see telling someone they need a Premium Membership if they come to the forums asking how to filter caches by attributes or have notifications sent to their phone or email, but all the OP wants to do is print a cache page.
