+ozark fisherman
I am a premium member and unable to get any details when I "send to GPS",,all I get is the basic route to the cache. I am new to this and I may just be over looking something.I have tried to resend the same geocache and get the same results. Thanks for any help Quote Link to comment
+whh0
Would you be able to give us a little more information about the steps you are taking? Also would help to know what sort of GPS you have. Are you running a pocket query or ticking geocaches from the list or loading the caches individually? Then maybe we can see where you are going wrong. Quote Link to comment
+Bear and Ragged
Are you downloading the GPX files, or the LOC files -which have no additional information in them..? If you have used your GPS as a Basic Member and downloaded caches, before you became a Premium Member, DELETE ALL the previously downloaded files. Garmin default to Basic Member if there are ANY Basic Member files loaded on the unit. Edited April 21, 2013 by Bear and Ragged Quote Link to comment

Thanks for any help OK, you are a Premium Member... and you are new to "this". I understand that... but... have you researched to see just what Premium Membership entails? If not, I would suggest that you click on this link: Premium Membership Let me 'splain myself. You are using "Send to GPS". That's fine, you can (should be able to) do this... but you are bypassing one of the biggest reasons for being a Premium Member. Pocket Queries Your GPSr is a good one, it is capable of doing so much more if you were to learn the functions of "paperless caching". Yes, it does involve learning more things and techniques of doing them, but in the (not-so-) long run, preparing for a caching adventure is far better and yes, easier too! As Bear and Ragged presented, you have been loading LOC files. Those files contain ONLY the coordinates and cache ID. With Pocket Queries, you can load up to 1,000 caches in the blink of an eye with files (GPX files) that contain pretty much the entire cache page as you see on the computer -- along with the hint and last five previous logs. In order to successfully load GPX files, you need to delete ALL of the LOC file data from your Garmin. It can cause problems if you do not. Two PQ tutorials, both are excellent: http://markwell.us/pq.htm and http://www.follow-the-arrow.co.uk/ . With that addressed... click those links and learn what you are missing out on. You are bound to have more questions, but that doesn't pose a problem, as there is a lot of experience bouncing around on these forums. You have done the investing (money-wise) that you need to, now you need to learn what that investment buys for you. The rest of it is pretty much free for the asking. :) :) Quote Link to comment

+Sharks-N-Beans
If you are clicking "Send to my GPS" from the cache page, you are sending the LOC file. In order to get the GPX file you have to click "GPX File." That can't be true as I do this all the time and get desc., hint, last 5 logs etc. Am curious, however, what the difference is. It isn't true at all. You get a GPX file through the "Send to My GPS" regardless of your membership level (I just tested with my regular premium account and my test basic account). The difference is in what information is included in the GPX file. As we all know, premium members get everything, including the description and recent logs. Basic members don't get everything, but they actually get a lot more than what a LOC file gives you. LOC file: -GC code -Name -Coordinates Basic member "Send to My GPS" GPX file: -GC code -Name -Coordinates -Cache type -Status (ie. disabled, archived, etc.) -Placed by name -Owner ID -Size -Difficulty -Terrain -Country -State Anyway, as a premium member, "Send to My GPS" gives you the same thing as the "GPX file" button. The OP's problem is most likely the presence of an old file (LOC or GPX) from when they were a basic member. They need to delete any such files. Quote Link to comment

I stand corrected. I only did that once and I thought the LOC file was what I got, so I never did it again. Apparently I was mistaken. Quote Link to comment
