+walkergeoff and wife
I had my first go with my new Oregon 600. Found it quite easily to pick up. But when I went to find the logs for both found and DNF I hit problems. I couldn't find the logs I had written. Any ideas? Quote Link to comment
+geodarts
I assume that the 600 works in the same way as other Garmin units I have used (including the Colorado, Montana, 62s).. The logs that you have written are in a file that can be transferred to the Groundspeak web site as a field note. If you want to see the file, check the \Garmin folder. There is a file "geocache_visits.txt" that is used to transfer the logs (or just the fact that a cache was found, not found, etc.). I periodically delete the file after transferring field notes for logging on this site. It is much easier for me to write a detailed log or include photos on a computer with a keyboard than it is on my handheld gpsr, so generally I just transfer the field note and write my actual log when I record it on this site. To transfer a field note (or learn how to do so), go to http://www.geocaching.com/my/uploadfieldnotes.aspx Does the 600 work any differently? I am debating between repairing or replacing a unit and am curious about whether things have radically changed with the new Oregons. Edited August 14, 2013 by geodarts Quote Link to comment
