+Jamie Z
MissJenn popped an idea into my head with this post. Maybe it's not new, but I'd like to put this out there for your thoughts, as well as those representing TPTB. What I'd like to see is a checkbox on the "Log this cache" page that says "I CITO'ed!" So that when you post your log, in addition to your smiley (or frownie, as it may be) you get a CITO icon as well, which can be counted on the user stat page associated with your account as well as the cache page itself. Photographic evidence would be encouraged. I think would this encourage and remind people to CITO, in keeping with the ideals of GC.com. It would also provide political clout to geocaching when we can point to real numbers and people and say "We carried out 14 bags of trash at this park," or "20 geocachers gathered trash along that trail." +Renegade Knight
Oh my! You mean that stats might actually have meaning and be useful? Edit: Forgot to say I like this idea. Edited March 17, 2004 by Renegade Knight Link to comment
+GeoBear18
I like the idea of bring CITO to everyone's mind. Not sure it should be counted in "finds" though.... Maybe just a bonus smily or happy garbage bag that you can click on if you CITO'd. Link to comment
+Howie57
Great Idea! I also don't think it should count for finds of course and I like the little smiley trash can........ just something to show that we all are Trashing Out from cache sites. Link to comment
Jeremy
A new log type perhaps? Separate from a find? With this type we could sort the log so people can see who is CITO around the world, with photos, etc. Neat idea. Link to comment
+Markwell
Another benefit could be an aggregate for the cache page ("X number of cachers CITO'd here"). That could also flag potential finders to bring extra bags if an area is particularly icky. Link to comment
+Marky
This is just the type of positive thing that would be great to keep track of. very good ammunition when going to talk to a land manager... Link to comment
Jeremy
I had thought that indicating how many pounds of trash taken out would make for great stats, but it is a bit of an overkill. The log type is pretty cool. Perhaps we should put it to vote and argue the merits. Link to comment
+MissJenn
Thanks for picking up on that, JamieZ. This thread has developed into a discussion of the merits here. Link to comment
ju66l3r
I had thought that indicating how many pounds of trash taken out would make for great stats, but it is a bit of an overkill. Sometimes...just sometimes...I like the way you think. Link to comment
+Jamie Z
Was there any more consideration for this idea? With all the recent changes, I hope this might be included. Jamie Link to comment
+Durango!
Locationless, TBs, and Benchmarks show up under user stats, but aren't technically finds. We could just put the CITO's there! Not cache finds, but kept track of nonetheless! Link to comment
