longhunter1757
My apologies for posting here but for some reason I cannot post in the GPS receiver section. Please share with me your opinions on the Cobra 100 & 500 GPS units. I'm thinking of the 100. It will be used mostly for Geocaching and a little hunting and fishing. Thanks in advance!! +welch
It would seem the prevailing opinion is you would be better with something else (like something off the etrex line). 'hydes' says no. someone asks something, but noone knows more get something else posts johhnie stalkers says it screws up alot johhnie stalkers says he used it a found lots of caches nothing important, but it had cobra in the post so the search picked it up the results for a 'cobra' search Quote Link to comment
longhunter1757
Welch, That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the help and now I see how to do a search so I won't beat a dead horse anymore. Rich Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
Stay away from the Cobra. In addition to Welch's links, there are a lot of people sayin bad things about them places like epinions.com. One guy here bought one against the advice of most forum regulars and wound up returning it after a couple of days and buying an eTrex. Quote Link to comment
CoinHunter
There is one on ebay for 99 cents...new in the box, gee, it must be a good one, lol. Quote Link to comment
KineticO
I just sent one back, the 500, from my rooftop in flat country it couldn't pick up a signal..... you really are getting what you are paying for on that one not to mention, it isnt very compatible with a lot of software! Quote Link to comment
+sigemund
I haven't used it, but I just thought I'd chime in and say it's too bad (and it kind of surprises me) that it sucks so much -- I have two Cobra hand-held radios and they work fantastically. Very nice, solid-construction and so on. I looked at the Cobra when I was looking into buying a GPS, but heeded all the ominous reviews. Definitely listen to the reviews you read on the internet though -- you'll never go wrong with all this good advice (both here and at places like epinions) Quote Link to comment
