Fallen Geocacher

I'm sure everyone knows about the 19 year old Marine that went AWOL, returned to his home town of Ceres and then ambushed the police killing one officer (Sgt. Howard ''Howie'' Stevenson) and critically injuring another (Sam Ryno).

 

Sgt. Howard ''Howie'' Stevenson hobbies list included fishing, hunting, camping and Geocaching.

 

Funeral will be held on Tuesday 1/18/05, 11:30 AM at the First Baptist Church in Modesto.

Does anyone know the user name of Sgt. Stevenson?

 

This hits home on several fronts for me. As one who was once a Marine this is a permanent black mark on fellow Marines.

 

As a Geocacher it is a sad loss to our community.

 

As one who worked in the Law enforcement field and worked to become a police officer. (though lack of College kept me from that goal so go to school kids!) I know the dangers he faced every day! I wish his and all families involved the best during these hard times!

His second day of caching, he was out at our house. He found the cache of Jaimee's that was at the back of our property. He seemed like a very nice guy. I didn't get to talk to him long.

It was a terrible story, and somehow this makes it just a little but worse. Very, very sad.

It's amazing how people can do this, and so close to home. As always my prayers are for Sgt. Stevenson and his family.
