+Starbuck&Apollo
Brand new to this and getting ready to buy a GPS. We're highly considering the Garmin GPSMAP 60c. But, we're confused about downloading everything. We know this unit will download the waypoints, but will it also download hints and info about the specific cache? Or will we still need a PDA for that part of it? Thanks for all your help! Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
It will dowload the waypoints and if you use GPX files, the cache name and owner. Some people have used Geocaching Swiss Army Knife to add the terrain, difficulty and cache size, but you aren't going to get the entire cache page into the 60C (or any unit for that matter). If that's what you're looking for, you're going to have to go with a PDA, or the old fashioned method of printing the pages. Edited February 2, 2005 by briansnat Quote Link to comment

More info here... 60C Info I 60C screens Note: Once the mods move this thread to the GPS Units and Software Forum, you will get alot more input. The GPX file has all the info, including the entire cache page text and a few logs. The note field in the 60C is only 32 characters however. Edited February 3, 2005 by briansnat Quote Link to comment

Is this: "It will dowload the waypoints and if you use GPX files, the cache name and owner.", different than what you get with a .loc file? When I look at my .loc down loads into easygps I can see each of these entities. Edited February 3, 2005 by Team cotati697 Quote Link to comment
+robert
the gpx has extra info in it like cache description, hints, etc. info about LOC v GPX can be found in Markwell's FAQ. (That particular link points to the pocket query FAQ but there's a note about file types as well there.) Good luck, and welcome to geocaching!! Quote Link to comment

I'll file that in my "Within the context of my question there is no difference" folder. Quote Link to comment
+Sputnik 57
I'll just add that there are several links that talk about uploading cache information to a 60CS, using GSAK or EasyGPS in this section of the 60CS FAQ site. Quote Link to comment
