+GixxerUT
On my laptop, I loaded the cds into the hard drive Topo data file, and it worked great. Then I upgraded to the 4.0 that has the 3d feature. Now it asks for the cd when I zoom past the 3rd level. I tried reloading the cds in, that didn't help. I uninstalled the 4.0, and the first version still works fine. On my desktop PC, I have upgraded to 4.0, and it works fine. I am so vexed. Quote Link to comment
Dale_Lynn
In times past on various pieces of software I have COPIED the entire CD into a folder and loaded program from folder. When program is looking for a data file or reference, it (might/should/probably would) will search folder on hard drive first thinking it is looking at the CD... No guarantee, but worth a try... You may also want to try and remove all traces of any version of software that is presently on lap top, and try a "clean install" on lap top instead of just doing a software upgrade from CD. +Sputnik 57
My bet is that there is something in the system registry on your laptop that is telling NG 4 where to look for the map data. Once it got loaded wrong, it got stuck there, and uninstalling did not clean up the system registry . I'm hoping Neo Geo will spot this thread and offer a tip. There are others out there who are comfortable with registry tweaks as well. I only do it when one of the gurus gives me step-by-step instructions. Maybe drop him a PM. Quote Link to comment
+GixxerUT
I called NG, and DUHHH........lol......the newer version puts the data in a new directory; C:/ProgramFiles/Topo/Topo_Data the old version is C:/Topo/Topo_Data I don't even remember that change when I loaded it on my desktop. My blunder. Thanks for the responses, folks. Quote Link to comment
