+mongoose39uk
Eirc Blair I received an email last night to inform me that this cache had been trashed. I went to recover it tonight. That does not quite cover it. the box had been smashed and burned, the contents strewn around and the tb in it kidnaped. These kind youn gentlemen left the following note in the log book (edited for decency) 20/2/05 Time 16.30 Ha Ha u sad B**t**d* We have destroyed the box and we are holding E.T. hostage We want 10 million pounds or he gets b****d by a big black ****. Ian, Ryan, Peter and we burnt your book There are some nice people in the world! Quote Link to comment
+kbootb
Commiserations. As you said, there are some people in the world that just defy explanation. But remember, there are some truly good people as well, don't let the b*******s grind you down. Quote Link to comment

+mongoose39uk
Not really concerned about the cache getting trashed. Thats is a risk that we take when we place them. It was the foul language that annoyed me. This is a game we play with our kids. annoyed that they took the TB even though they left its info sheet. I have emailed the owner and explained that its been nicked. Quote Link to comment
+Cave Troll and Eeyore
We are sorry to hear of Eric Blairs demise. There was definately no one around when we found it, not even another car on the carpark. The cache was well hidden when we left it . Some people love to spoil others fun. Quote Link to comment
+klaus23
It's one of the risk that unfortunately can happen in the game of geocaching. Don't take it to heart, get a nice new box together, mark the book with the previous finders names, and place it a few hundred yards away. It would be a shame to archive it because of some young idiots. As kbootb said (Illegitimis non carborundum), ignore it and carry on Also remember that at least nobody did a poo in yours Edited March 1, 2005 by klaus23 Quote Link to comment
+Us 4 and Jess
isn't it just crap how a few stupid morons have to spoil it for the rest of us if they dont like what we do thats fair enough!! but to wreck your cache for the hell of it is rotten i think, and if a young family had found that that would have been awful there are lots of things i dont like but i wouldnt spoil it for people who did Quote Link to comment
nobby.nobbs
let's hope they get in contact to arrange to exchange tb for the cash. i'm sure there would be several poeple willing to go along and explain to them why they shouldn't do what they did. Quote Link to comment
+mongoose39uk
After sleeping on it! I am going to resurect Eric Blair at Hollingworth Lake. It will be in a new location though. I have archived it as the new location will be some distance from the previous one. Thanks Tony Quote Link to comment
+Pengy&Tigger
If you do replace the cache, consider making it an offset. Some sign or feature, with a bit of working out, is enough to put off the usual brain dead moron. Pengy Edited March 1, 2005 by Pengy&Tigger Quote Link to comment
Team 'James W'
My thoughts only, but I have a theory that tupperware caches seem to be more likely to be trashed that ammo boxes.. I've visited some ammo caches that have several muggle notes, yet the cache has been replaced. Wonder if the ammo boxes seem to appear more 'serious' to accidental finders and less like temporary or 'litter' items to them?? Here's an example... I know that it's mostly a question of the 'type' of muggle, guess there's lots of examples conflicting this too, but just my thoughts! PS Sorry about the cache getting trashed. Our first ever placement was trashed after 4 days and we were heartbroken Edited March 1, 2005 by Team 'James W' Quote Link to comment
