+jeff35080
The Forest Service could open its lands to geocaching -- a sort of scavenger hunt in which participants follow clues posted on the Internet and use handheld global-positioning systems to locate hiding places for items. I thought it already was open to geoaching in many cases. Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
If would be nice to have the formal recognition as a good land use. Geocaching has made me appreciate open lands far more than I used too. Quote Link to comment
+bigredmed
1.Open recognition of the value of the hobby in land use and developing the taste for outdoor recreation. 2.A set of pre-knowable regs that apply similarly to geocaching as well as to other outdoor hobbies (if mountain climbing is OK, then we are too, if we are banned, then ATV use and climbing with permanent petons should be as well.) 3.A public connection between a big wig in the NFS and geocaching community either through GC or terra or though Today's Cacher. Tahosa and Sons
We have no problem with the USFS here in NO Colorado, there hasn't been an outright statement saying its ok to cache. Just a subtle request to stay out of designated wilderness areas, which is ok, because we have some many other places to go. As long as we continue to hide quality caches and keep up the maintenance there should not be any problems. Edited March 21, 2005 by Tahosa and Sons Quote Link to comment
+sbell111
An outright statement that it's OK may help when negotiating with other land managers. Quote Link to comment
