cchase
I am unable to get my handheld to communicate with GSAK. I know it is hooked up fine, because it transfers data to and from my street map software. I have restarted both my computer and handheld and I am getting the following error when trying to transfer waypoints from the handheld to GSAK: Error sending waypoints: MAGPROTO: no data received from GPS The error I receive when attempting to transmit waypoints to the handheld is much longer. Let me know if you need to know what that error is. Thanks for any help -Cole Quote Link to comment
CompuCash
please tell us what GPS you are using. Make sure it is set up with the same BAUD rate as BSAK if available. Garmin is locked in. Make sure you have your serial port free - if you have a PDA turn of your sync program. and check out these other posts here in the forums - http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...0entry1172909 make sure the GPS is setup - usually you have to have it set for normal or Garmin. You don't want it in the NEMA ouput mode. What is Magproto? Error sending waypoints:MAGPROTO: no data received from GPS cc Edited March 27, 2005 by CompuCash Quote Link to comment
Warriorrider
If you don't get an answer pretty quick, you should probably ask your question in the GSAK posting area. I'm sure you'll get a much faster response over there Quote Link to comment
cchase
More details: I'm using a Magellan Meridian Color. Here is what I'm attempting, please advise if this is incorrect. In GSAK I go to "GPS" and select "Send waypoints..." Then a new window pops up. I select the number of waypoints I wish to send and then hit "Send". A window appears saying "Generating GPS file." then a window saying "Sending waypoints". It lasts about 30 seconds and then the error comes up. Thanks again. -Cole Quote Link to comment
CompuCash
in your gps setup - -- turn NEMA off -- set baud rate at 9600 in GSAK - GPS / SETUP -- select Magallan -- select the correct COM port (this may be trial and error at first) -- select 9600 BAUD -- leave wpts at 500 In Send Dialog - the number of waypoints can be changed but is usually set by the filter you setup for what you want to send to the GPS. The Black (DOS) window that pops up during the send process should show the total number of waypoints sending and a rolling count of the nubmer it is sending. If you have a short count it goes by really fast. hope this helps - I am not sure that you have set things up properly yet at this point. There are several people having this same problem - guess I need to write a single complete procedure so I don't have to type so much. Good luck and let us know how you get along. cc Quote Link to comment
CompuCash
I have the correct Com and Baud, they match those I use for MapSend and that works. Any other suggestions? -Cole AHA = we do have a program that works. At least we know we have good hardware working. Do you have this program ON while you are trying to use GSAK? Try exiting MapSend before using GSAK - any help? Since we know that MapSend works I thnk the problem can now be traced to GSAK and its settings. Please review my settings in the above post All my answers will be in this thread - I have asked that the other thread be merged here to avoid confusion. cc Quote Link to comment
