accident prone
I cannot seem to any waypoints from GSAK. It is almost like my GPSr is not recognizing being hooked up to a serial port. When I try to send waypoints I get error messages, I have no idea, can any help or give suggestions? You can email me at joelvandall@yahoo.com if you would like. Quote Link to comment
+tirediron
First off, posting an email address in an open forum is probably gonna get you a boatload of spam, but that's neither here nor there. It would help a little if you could expand on the problem a little; what kind of computer, what OS, and what the warning messages say. A very common cause of this is having either an improper COM port assigned or another application using the COM port. Do you have a Palm or other PDA sync software running on your computer? +ritzvin
second that. If you have anything else running on the com port, it won't contact the gps. If you have Palm software on your computer, simply exiting the hotsync program should be enough (at least it was for me). Quote Link to comment
accident prone
I don't know what I was thinking with the whole email address thing, I'll have to keep that in mind. I have a computer that my brother built for me, with Windows 2000 professional. I do not have any other devices hooked up except for 2 printers, both in the USB ports, nothing in the COM ports. Error messages are as follows:Erroe sending waypoints: [Error]CreateFile: The system cannot find the file specified. GARMIN:can't init COM1. Quote Link to comment
+CompuCash
if you have a PDA turn off the serial sync option and check the following posting - http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...0entry1172909 Quote Link to comment
+NightPilot
Make sure the cable is connected properly at both ends. I've had connections that looked fine on my Legend but were just a little off. The eTrex connector leaves something to be desired. Make sure the GPS is turned on, and Garmin interface is selected. Make sure your serial port is actually Com1. It could be anything up to 9, thanks to Windows, and possibly higher. If you have a PDA that syncs via the serial port, disable the sync software, and then reboot. Sometimes disabling it works, sometimes it requires a reboot. It is Windows, after all. In fact, reboot anyway, just on general principles. Windows needs to be rebooted at least once a day, and more often if you're actually using it. People can email you via the address you gave when you registered, just by clicking on your name.
