Kilroy Gang
I haven't been able to successfuly upload cache location pictures WITHIN the cache listing, in HTML, as some have done. (See Ardenwood, GCHHY7 ) for an example of this. Oh yeah, I can upload pictures to the log entry. But not to the listing of my cache page itself. These would be on cache pages for my hidden caches. Not others' caches I'm finding or logging. Any clues? I've tried embedding in the HTML. I've tried uploading prior to the description of the listing. Nothing works consistently, and sometimes it works, but then doesn't later. Thanks. Edited April 26, 2005 by Kilroy Gang Quote Link to comment
The Leprechauns
html is the proper path, using the <img> tag. You need to point the URL to the photo that you uploaded to your cache page (or wherever it resides on the web). (Use the "upload images" button on the menu at the top right of your cache page.) And be sure to check the box on the cache report form that says you're using html. Can you tell us whether you did all those things? Edited April 26, 2005 by The Leprechauns Quote Link to comment
Kilroy Gang
So the images I want, that I've taken, I need to post on an independent server and list the URL to those images within the HTML in the description? Quote Link to comment
Kilroy Gang
Wait a minute, I'm reading your note again, and it looks like I can upload the images to GC.com, then see the URL when viewing the image log, then cut and paste that within my description? Quote Link to comment
StarBrand
Not just in log pages - upload photos for the cache page and then use the URL in an image tag to display on the page.... Quote Link to comment
The Leprechauns
Wait a minute, I'm reading your note again, and it looks like I can upload the images to GC.com, then see the URL when viewing the image log, then cut and paste that within my description? That is correct. Upload the image right to your cache page. Let's use one of my cache pages as an example. After I set up the page, I wanted to show off the beautiful view of my city's skyline to explain that this wasn't "just another micro." So - 1. I clicked on the "upload images" button at the top right. 2. I navigated to my photo directory on my hard drive, and identified the correct picture. I gave it a name, "View from West End Overlook," and uploaded it. 3. The photo now appears on the cache page as a little camera icon with a hyperlink on its name. Look for it just below the maps and just above where the logs are. 4. I clicked on the hyperlink to open the photo onto its own page with its own URL. I copied that URL from the browser address box into my clipboard. 5. I put my cache page into edit mode, made sure that the box was checked to say that I was using html on my cache page, and then inserted the following html code so that my photo would display in the center of my cache page: <center><img src="http://img.Groundspeak.com/cache/a0f1a0a9-af25-4574-9dc8-cd46521ca68e.jpg"></center><br> You can see the results on the cache page! Bear in mind that this requires the rest of your cache page to include proper html commands. Read The quick and dirty guide to bad html for your cache page if you need help on the image command or any others, like paragraph breaks. Quote Link to comment
Kilroy Gang
Thanks! You're all such a great resource. I'll try this as soon as I have a minute. I'll come back and post my resulting efforts. Quote Link to comment
Kilroy Gang
Okay, got the page completed and approved. Here's the waypoint: GCNN6D Thanks for the help. Of course I need to go in and clean up the picture, but the instructions worked great. Only hangup was that the server was Soooooo slow that I ended up uploading the pic twice, as I didn't think it transferred the first time. Anyway, great to have the forums for this kind of stuff. Thanks for your help!! Quote Link to comment
