Help with GPS on a mobile phone

I've just acquired a new mobile phone, a Nokia 6700. It's very cheap (free), very basic and will primarily be used for chatting to my mate... (I only have one )... It does, however, have a built in GPSr and basic street map set. After waiting half an hour for it to download the almanac, it (unsurprisingly) showed me exactly where I was.
Now.... How can I use that to locate a cache as there doesn't appear to be any sort of navigational software?
Is it possible to download something / anything that will allow me to enter a set of co-ordinates and have a display that would look something like the 'pointy arrow' on a Garmin?

Can anyone enlighten me as to why my premium membership has reverted to Basic when the subscription isn't due to run out until next May. I have 2 premium accounts using which I keep a fully updated GSAK database. I recieved PQ's from both accounts on 17/11 as normal. I tried logging in to change the date parameters on my second account PQ's and got a message saying that the PQ feature was for premium members only. On checking my profile the account is now showing up as basic member only! Any ideas?

Temp Disabled caches

I think it might be time for Groundspeak to set a maximum time that caches can be 'Temp Disabled' for instead of it being left to the cache owners interpretation of the relevant section.
You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to hunt for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable time – normally a few weeks – in which to arrange a visit to your cache.
I have recently commented on a cache that has been 'Temp Disabled' for 10 months with no further comments from the owner when the cache was actually disabled. I had stated a while ago that I thought that it was time to replace or archive and recieved a stern email from the owner stating that my comment was not appreciated. After that I simply removed my note from the cache page. As I have been in the area and am now going down to the Sth West for 3 months I made a note today stating that I would have to wait now until I returned to find the cache and that I still thought 10 months was to long.
This time the owner did not bother to email me but simply removed the log.
There seem to be too many caches that are left disable for far to long.

What do forum members think about this subject.

Map Generator Findstatgen3.gsk

Firstly apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but I have scoured a number of posts and am still a,little confused.
I thought I would update my stats and worked out how to run the Findstatgen macro in GSAK which was fine apart from having to remove the old 'Wanstead Park Bonus' from my list due to the co-ords being in the sea somewhere which messed with my Northerly/easterly stats. Now I have the new set of html loaded in my profile I wondered how to show my caches by county. It seems as though you can run this same macro with some kind of country map which then splits the caches by county. I have dropped a FindStatGenMapUnited_Kingdom.dat map into my GSAK macro folder but cant fathom how to get this to work.

Can someone put me out of my misery....please.

London Royal Parks - Geocaching refused

About 12 months ago the authorities in Greenwich Park in London made it clear they didn't want geocaching to take place in the park. As a result a number of caches were archived and removed and we (the reviewers) would not approve any new caches there.

Since then various negotiations have taken place with the Royal Parks to try and get a formal agreement in place for geocaching throughout all the parks. While these negotiations were taking place we felt it best that no new caches should be published in any of the parks until a conclusion had been reached.

The Geocaching Association of Great Britain (GAGB), who have negotiated many such agreements with other landowners, have been very actively involved in these discussions and despite their hard work and efforts (and assistance of others providing help and local knowledge) the Royal Parks authority have now made a final decision that they do not want any geocaching activity in any of their parks. This is unfortunate but we must abide by their wishes. This post in the GAGB forum provides details.

So regrettably we must ask that caches currently in place in the parks are removed and the cache listings archived. We are looking at which caches are involved and will be emailing the owners directly. These are the parks affected:
Hyde Park, Richmond Park, St James's Park, Regent's Park, Bushy Park, Kensington Gardens and Brompton Cemetery.

I would like to say a personal thank you to the GAGB and other individuals involved in these negotiations. I know how much time and effort has put in to try and resolve this.

Chris
Graculus
Volunteer UK Reviewer for geocaching.com
UK Geocaching Information & Resources website www.follow-the-arrow.co.uk

Could you help me with a few questions?

I want to know how many of us plan a holiday with geocaching in mind.

When you go away from home, do you find out how many caches are in the area you're going to?
Do you look for accommodation close to caches?
Or do you stay with family and hope some new caches have just been published?

Or - do you just leave your GPS at home and have a total relax?

I need to know if there's any interest in this before I throw any more energy at it, so if you could just give me a few ideas on what your holiday needs are, I'd be very grateful.

Barberanne

GSAK RefreshAllGPX macro banned

Due to a small Number of users of this Script, using it in a way which has affected GC's Database Servers. Groundspeak has taken the following measures.

Those found to have been excessively hitting the database with this script have been Banned. In each case Groundspeak is prepared to work on a one to one basis with each member to resolve the issue, and allow the member to become unbanned.

Any member who has been banned for using the script has been contacted by Groundspeak and asked to contact them directly to resolve the issue.

Groundspeak have also requested Clyde to remove the Script from the GSAK Website.

It is also suggested that all users of the above script who have it installed in GSAK remove it, to avoid the risk of having their account Banned. As Groundspeak will be continuing to monitor the Database for members using this script. Continued usage risks a ban, which Groundspeak might not rescind.

News of this has also been posted to GAGB's forum by Matthew 7:7 Too

Deceangi

edited to correct Clive to Clyde, Graculus had already pointed out the mistake around 08:45

With my son Jackster Boy we seem to have stumbled across a gap in the cache market, Fire stations are plentiful enough but there are only a handful of caches relating to them. We've been busy around the Essex area and are planning to cover most of Essex in the next few months but I'd really like to see the FIRE series and FIre's Out (ex Fire Stations) expanded like the Sidetracked series.

There are some excellent unofficial websites about that give you loads of info about the stations and their equipment.

Our local station is Great Baddow http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC1YJFQ all the others are listed on the cache page. Please take a look and if you place a FIRE or FIRE's Out cache let me know and I'll add it to the bookmark list.

Cheers
