Want the Wherigo team to come to your area?

Clarification: This is to indicate a demand for Groundspeak presence.

Also, you ( From: SF Bay Area, CA ) don't have to demand anything. Meet & Greet Groundspeak & Garmin in the Bay Area is already scheduled.

Actually the demand is for us to build a cartridge in your area. And we have certainly built them in places we haven't physically been to. In the past we have used local geocachers to survey the area and help us test.

Where's that button!?! I wanna do that!! (kidding, I know where the button is)

Sadly I think I'm one of maybe 2 in my area that is capable of doing this. Few even use a PPC/Palm, and I've only heard of one other with a BT GPS.

I don't think the demand is going to be high enough here. :o

YET!!!

From the Bay Area Event:

Want to request that the Wherigo team come to your area? Click here and demand it. The Wherigo team will host an event where you will learn to build and play Wherigo Cartridges. We hope to see you in 2008!

So is the demand for Groundspeak to create a cartridge in your area or to sponsor an event (similar to the Bay area event)? I read the above and assumed it was to host/sponsor an event in your area - that's why I created a Boston area demand and what I've been telling people local. Please clarify.

Well, the reality is we would like to do both. So depending on the demand we could both create a cartridge and have a Builder workshop at the location. If the request is for the other side of the world we would probably do just a cartridge in the area. But who knows? If there's enough demand we would go pretty much anywhere.

Thanks for clarifying!

Can you give us any idea as to what the "critical mass" for either of these options (cartridge/workshop) might be?

Edit: cleaned up a bit.

At this point, 100 people would be a good threshold on the Eventful Demand list. We know that if there are enough people willing to jump through hoops to demand it that there is a possible larger group interested as well. However it is just an arbitrary number. We're already planning on going to some major cities throughout the year.

Just wanted to say we had a great time at the Seattle Groundspeak/Garmin event! The Groundspeak crew, Wherigo team, and Garmin rep were all awesome. Playing the Wherigo cartridge on the Garmin Colorado was pretty sweet! Loved the intro showing the old text-based games....those were the days! Now we're off to work on building a cartridge!!

And thanks for finding our Blackberry!!! We just got it last night and we're already losing it....
