+SchnauzerGeek
New to this so need help please. Its a 2 part cache, the first part is a sign with a 11 digit phone number on it that we have found using iphone 5c. The description says this Also on this board you will find an 11 digit phone number ABCDEFGHIJK Substitute into the following formula to reach the cache N54 B(C-E).(E-F)G(D- B ) W000 BE.(I-J)A(K-H) What does this mean? Also, when we do get the anser can anyone advise how to enter in tomtom for iphone in a format it recognises? or on the iphone should I use something else other than tomtom? Thanks Edited April 19, 2014 by SchnauzerGeek Quote Link to comment
+TriciaG
Which part don't you understand? The 11 digit phone number ABCDEFGHIJK? Substitute into the formula? It's pretty straightforward, I think. EDIT: The formula has subtraction, but no multiplication. Hopefully that'll help. Edited April 19, 2014 by TriciaG Quote Link to comment
+geodarts
Also, when we do get the anser can anyone advise how to enter in tomtom for iphone in a format it recognises? or on the iphone should I use something else other than tomtom? I use Navigon rather than TomTom, but it should allow you to transfer coordinates to it. There are geocaching apps, like Geosphere or GeoBucket, that can be configured to automatically transfer coordinates using TomTom's API. Unfortunately, the Groundspeak app does not do this. +SchnauzerGeek
Thanks but still don't get it. Would you be kind enough to show a worked example, say the phone number was 07923123456 Quote Link to comment
+TriciaG
Thanks but still don't get it. Would you be kind enough to show a worked example, say the phone number was 07923123456 No, sorry. I feel I've given as much help as I can without giving it away. One of the terms of service for the forums is that we're not supposed to help with specific puzzles. Quote Link to comment

I agree, if you are stuck with any aspects of multis or puzzles the person to ask would be the owner of the cache. Quote Link to comment
+niraD
Okay, here's how the math works: Let's say your 11 digit phone number is 91827364591 A=9 B=1 C=8 D=2 E=7 F=3 G=6 H=4 I=5 J=9 K=1 Okay, let's do the math for the latitude: N54 B(C-E).(E-F)G(D-B ) N54 1(8-7).(7-3)6(2-1) N54 1(1).(4)6(1) N54 11.461 Of course, this is completely hypothetical, since I used a made-up phone number. And I've done only the latitude. But it should be enough for you to see how to do both the latitude and the longitude using the real number. And to avoid spoilers in the forums, where they'll be online and searchable for the life of the cache, I recommend that you go back to the reply where you included the real phone number and edit it out.
