salvidorante
Hi there, first of all: Im not really about GeoCaching. Just so you know. I wanna do something different, and right know Im searching for the right way to do that. Just let me try to explain: I ride Enduro. For those of you who dont know what that is: Its an offroad motorcycle, build to ride nearly everywhere you please to. I dont have any navigation device, and frankly I dont want a navigation-system. Its expensive and personnaly I believe you can find most destinations without it... as long as you ride on the streets. But you dont do that with an Enduro, you ride off the road. But sometimes it happens that I wanna visit family, or just go to a particular place, without using streets because I like riding offroad. Traveling is a lot more fun besides the streets. There are navigation systems with some ways in it, but as I said I dont really want a navigation device. What I would love is a compass, an arrow pointing to the direction my destination is, and a distance indication. My first idea was: Theres properly an app for my android-smartphone around. And I found one: Locus. But the Locus-compass isn't very accurate... actually its completly useless. Or my smartphones GPS sucks, I dont know... Just so you know, the Locus compass itself is awesome and exactly what I would want. Sucks that it doesnt work like it should. Here's a picture so that you guys can form a picture of what I want in your head: http://www.locusmap.eu/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/08.jpg Somehow I remembered that a friend once told me about GeoCaching, and the idea came up that I could find a solution for my problem. He had a small device that showed him where to go to find whatever you guys actually search for (sorry if I sound rude... dont mean to). So I thought maybe such a device could work for me. I would type in the coordinates of my destination and the device will tell me where to go. Or the App, or whatever... Is that possible? Does anyone maybe have an idea? Im open to any new ideas... +cerberus1
Not a new idea, pretty much any handheld gps will direct you from point A to B and indicate distance between the two. Quote Link to comment
+Bear and Ragged
Not a new idea, pretty much any handheld gps will direct you from point A to B and indicate distance between the two. And a bit more rugged than your smartphone! Quote Link to comment

+cerberus1
Garmin or Magellan. If you're simply looking to enter a waypoint and that's it, go by price. Quote Link to comment
+NanCycle
Hikers, hunters, etc have been using GPS units for years pretty much the way you describe. You may want to browse around in the Hiking/Backpacking forum section. Quote Link to comment
+ADKer
Thanks for the quick answers Any product-related suggestions? Im not really into that topic yet, so I have troubles searching. For something as simple as you're saying, just about any Garmin device made in the past ten years would be perfect. I'm not sure of your price range, but perhaps one of the previous generation of eTrex? Quote Link to comment
