Very nice. I just picked up my 2nd 2005 utah coin off ebay, and now there's this awesome new 2006 coin coming out. I'm gonna need a couple of these for sure, especially since Utah is my vacation destination this summer, and I'm gonna release a bunch of coins along the way. Again I say, "Cool!"

"Your" California seagull found it's way to Utah in the 1800's and saved the pioneers from starvation by eating crickets. The crickets were eating the crops. :D

Not sure who decided it was a "California" seagull :D

Since there has been another trackable Utah coin announced, I thought I better bump this thread. The final art work has been submitted. Coins will be going to mint and we should be a few weeks out before the sales occur. Please stay tuned

Just for clarification please do not confuse this Utah coin with the Utah Micro that has been announced by Jonutley, this two coins are not related.

Zinc injected coins are just as heavy as brass or nickel based coins. My Cachehunters42 Bear coins were injected Zinc coins.

Then I'm thinking of another metal cause most of the coins coming from the geocoin store are really lightweight compared to all other vendors including you and your bear coins.

Coin Store & Coin Club coins only come in two versions - copper stamped and zinc die cast. Stamping is our prefered method but certain designs can only be done in cast. Most of them are 3.5mm thick although a couple have been 3.0 and a couple were 4.0mm.

What were the specs on the 2006 MIGO/Michigan coin? That's one of the nicer ones, IMO.

Zinc, nickel or styrofoam, it's an excellent coin and I want one. Okay, maybe not styrofoam, unless it's an ultra limited edition and it's autographed by a real Utah geocacher like Redwing_Dave.

Plus, I just like saying "Utah". It's like something you scream when you karate chop someone.

I might add that there was an error on the time at The Geocoin store, it was showing PM, when indeed it will be AM. Sorry for the confusion.

And for those of us who have switched to DayLight Saving Time? And the Full Description doesn't agree with the home page...

I'm assuming the following:

1) The Geocoin Store lists all times in Eastern Daylight Time.

2) The Sale Time for the regular Silver coins is: 12:00 PM EDT (Noon)

3) The Sale Time for the limited edition Gold coins is: 11:30 AM EDT (1/2 hour before Noon)

4) That puts the sale times in Utah at 10:00 AM MDT and 9:30 AM MDT, respectively.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The "Full Listing" only states all times are Eastern timezone, ignoring Standard vs Daylight. GMT-5 would suggest that the listings are Standard Time. I guess we need further clarification.

In both cases the main page time for the coin differs from that listed in the "Full Listing" (11:30 am vs 11:30 pm and 12:00 pm vs 11:59 pm).

I will tell you that the sale of the coins is suppose to occur at 09:30am Utah Time for the LE Gold and 10:00 am for the Silver edition. Yes, it appears as if the Geocoin Store is on Eastern time.

I am not going to try and post all the times for differant time zones, it has been my experience in these forums that this confuses even more people. If some one else wants to assist and post those times, knock your socks off. I posted when they are going on sale in Utah, adjust accordingly  .

Alright I thought I better post for clarification reasons rather than someone throwing daggers later for not knowing.

From the very begining of this project it was our goal to have some of these coins in hand for our annual UTAG Spring 2006 Meeting for two reasons, 1st was to promote the event (kind of a no brainer), and 2nd was to be able to share the coin with those who are not hard core coin collectors and have no clue how insane we really are.

There will be 150 of these coins at the event for those who are attending to purchase. There is to be a 2 coin limit at the event and if anyone wants more they will be subject to purchasing from the GeoCoin Store .

So now you ask why am I telling you this? Well first I doubt there will be any showing up on the "E" place but just in case you know why. Second, I couldn't wait to activate a coin to see the new icon 411.gif. If you actually want to see it on an account please feel free to visit my profile.

Now for the sale of the coin. I have had a few people ask why I chose that day to sell the coin? Well it nots because everyone will be at GW4 , rather I tried to pick a date that followed out UTAG event so you could purchase them ASAP and not be left out. Apparently that back fired and I apologize for that , by the time I was first questioned I had already sent all the notifications out of the pending sale and it would have been confusing to change it at that point.

I hope everyone enjoys the fruits of our labors!

Antique silver will be going on sale in 35 minutes through the Geocoin Store. There was an issue with their server this morning, they are in the process of rebooting and should be ready in time for the sale.

I hope so. Still not up at of 11:30 am
