JoshHewett
Hey everyone, Some of you TB owners may be concerned that your Travel Bug hasn't moved in maybe a month, two? .. Or in this case it has been about 3-4 years. Just wanted to say, there is hope that your TB may come to life again some day. I found a TB I had placed in my memorabilia box about 4 years ago when I was younger, because I didn't really understand the concept of Geocaching. The story behind how it got lost can be seen on the log... : TB407VA In any case, I hope that other owners out there will see there TB come to life again, like his will in the coming weeks as it moves to another country once again. Good Luck Quote Link to comment
+Team D.A.R.K.
Thanks for the info. You should also know that if a person is using the free, but official, Geocaching Intro app on iOS, there is NO way to log a trackable. So, it may also be that the trackable just isn't being logged because the person doesn't have a convenient way to ever do that. I'm sure they can do so once they get back home, if they remember or wrote down where they picked it up. Although, I keep thinking they will add that feature, they added support for the Apple Watch first, but you still can't log a trackable. Hopefully, they weren't using an iOS device, but maybe that feature is missing from the android version, too. Quote Link to comment

Good Luck Nice you "re-found" the trackable. Since the person who lost it incorrectly placed a trackable that he didn't even have into a (now archived) cache, basically dumping it to get it off his inventory, it'd be a good idea to have the trackable visit a cache to again start the mileage you say you're gonna give it. No finds yet, hopefully you realize that these things move cache-to-cache. I think a better idea may be just to place it in the first cache you find big enough. Geocaching 101 will help with the basics, and extra info on trackables can be found here. Good luck. Quote Link to comment

If you look at the trackable's page, you'll see it's still listed as missing (Unknown Location). A Discover log only says you saw it, and doesn't fix the trackable page, saying you have it in your possession. You need the Grab It log, as it's not currently in a cache or passed on from another. Tell me again how great it would be to have "Trackable Support" in the Intro App. Even people who have access to the web site can't figure out how to manage Trackables. It illustrates the point. http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?guid=950f0cd1-40e8-48f0-9eb0-7391a072cbb0 (TB1F25G) I assumed that "Warcop" was possibly an MP (military police) and had taken the traveler while on duty. No activity for two years. You can imagine what I was thinking. Looks like the cacher and the traveler are both safe and sound and back home. Would love to know the whole story behind this one. SillySailor
More examples of a TB missing for years. "Hardworking Policeman" http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?tracker=TB27A4F was dropped in a cache on 16th Oct 2011. The first report (on the cache's page not the TB's page) that the TB was missing was on 11th Dec 2011. I found it outside the cache when looking for the cache on 13th Apr 2015. One I discovered in 20014, "JD the Little Tracktor" http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?tracker=TBJACB was placed in a cache 6th Jan 2007 and found in a different cache 10th July 2009 and also grabbed on 7th Aug 2011 and not dropped until 28th June 2013. +Zepp914
I had a trackable go to a very popular cache near Groundspeak Headquarters (GC20Y24). None of the logs after the drop mentioned it and hundreds of people find it every week. I thought it was gone for good. Three or four months later it showed up at an event in Denmark! +Auld Pharrrt
I really enjoy the trackables side of the game and give my respect to the OP for admitting his mistake and getting this TB back in the game. I think it's a sad fact that so many TB's go missing in action. Especially when the first coin I released seems to have been kidnapped by woman who simply will not let it go into a cache even after several friendly communications between us, she always promises she will release it a.s.a.p., but never does. Ah well, next time it'll be a copy sent out instead of the real thing. I accept the fact that any TB's I release will probably meet similar fates, but if I stick to using the cheaper TB's instead of geocoins then the financial loss is minor and I can re-release them in the form of copies if they go missing (after about 12 months.) +DanOCan
Just this week I had a Travel Bug (the tag anyway) resurface after nearly nine years and a fire. http://coord.info/TBKC3J Quote Link to comment
