+sawblade5
I am wondering rather the first USA Geocoin was made in 2002 or in 2003. I have seen the design of the 2002 USA Geocoin here at http://web.archive.org/web/20021012104546/...sageocoins.com/ But I don't see any listed on the trade lists at ethier cointracking.com or geocoincollection.com . So I wonder when excatly did it come out. I am asking this becasue the Wikipedia Article on Geocoins here at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geocoin needs citations. I changed the year to 2003 but I can't cite it due to the fact I can't find any proving 2003 was the first year of that coin and the drawing of the 2002 version makes me wonder. Quote Link to comment

I've personally not seen any before 2003. but that drawing does make me wonder as well. I'm sure Erik will answer shortly. Quote Link to comment

+Eric K
The 2002 coin was never made. Since the first sale was actually made on 11/22/2002 USA Geocoins went ahead and minted the 2003 version since there was only about a month left. Now in hindsight I wish we would have made that 2002 coin! :-) For what it's worth there was a total of a whole FIVE sales made in 2002! :-) Quote Link to comment
+Big JohnP
Have you given a thought to minting that design this year? It would be a nice coin. Quote Link to comment

I would have to change the year though or I'd get deluged with e-mail with people asking why their 2007 coins says 2002! Quote Link to comment

Sorry about resurrecting this old thread, but I need to point out that my first geocoin was purchased in September 2002. It was a Canadian coin that was trackable on the geocoins.ca site. Here is the log for that tracks one of my favorite coins. Canadian #0329 I'm pretty sure that Texas coins came out before the USA ones, and they were also trackable at their own site and were also sold to the public. The Canadian clearly beats out the USA coin. There are independent logs on bot the Canadian coin site and Geocaching.com. Quote Link to comment
+The Moop Along
Ok, so I'll bite The new Wiki post says "One of the first to be sold". I missed the part where it left out possibilities like Canada and/or Texas being sold first Quote Link to comment
