Cache not showing up on app

I recently had a cache published. I thought everything was fine until a local cacher messaged me and said the app was telling him it was an invalid gc code. Sure enough, it won't show up on the app, and if you search the gc code on website it says invalid code too. But it does show up as a star for me on the website map as the CO. Not sure how it shows up or if it shows up at all on the website map for others. Any thoughts on this?

If I could select this on some of my caches, I might do so. :ph34r

Wait, I mean, I sure hope it gets fixed, so the not-showing-up-in-the-app thing clears up. Yeah, that's what I meant. :anicute:

Yeah, I guess it's not a bad problem to have, lol

Groundspeak is aware of it and are working on it, I just thought maybe someone on here might have some insight.

Did you try shutting off "PMO" as Touchstone suggested? Be sure it changed, then turn it back on. [Oh, wait, I see that you did].

Also, edit something on the page and save it.

Somehow, that cache is not in the APP's database, not even on its map. There are only a couple of things a CO can directly do that might change the database.

I see the cache using the old search on the web site. I don't see it listed in the new search. But in that case, maybe I missed some important setting.

On the web site just now, I logged two Finds as a test, one on GC6W21D and one on a cache of my own as a control subject. Since the cache GC6W21D is invisible to the App (as of 12:49AM EST), unlisted and not on the map, I had a question about whether or not at least my find count would increase in the App. Yes, it did! With no a smiley-face icon on the map, and while the App still shows the spot empty. No big deal. I just wondered.

Next I added the invisible cache to a bookmark list, and it not only appears in the list in the App, but a map pin is added at the correct spot. There's no "description" text, the loading cursor just spins, but the logs and other cache info is shown. The cache is still not found in a search, and the pin goes away when I look at other caches. But this demonstrates one way that someone using the App could find the cache, if they first visit the web site cache page. Maybe they could use the phone's web browser to add the bookmark.

Next question: While the cache is temporarily in view, what happens if I try to log a Find from the App? I didn't test that, because these logs could get annoying to the CO. Maybe I'll test it on the next invisible cache.

Woke up this morning thinking you were FTF,lol. Thanks for taking the time on that. Those were a good ideas. I didn't even think about doing that. I'm wondering if Groundspeak will just have me archive it and start new?
