+J-dawg_the_Pirate
I mean no one any disrespect and I appreciate those who hide caches. That being said the sinking feeling I get when I get within visual range of a cache and I realize "Oh, it's under that light skirt" leaves me underwhelmed. Any advice for the best way to filter these out? By size and difficulty maybe? Quote Link to comment
RuideAlmeida
Any advice for the best way to filter these out? With Traditional, you can take a look at the GZ with Google Street View, by instance. Edited July 9, 2015 by RuideAlmeida Quote Link to comment
+Touchstone
Sorry, but I can't think of a specific filter setting that would solve your problem. Like RA said above, you could look at the maps and solve part of your problem by just deleting Listings from your list that appear to be in parking lots. I'm kind of an omnivore when it comes to caches. I don't mind the occasional easy one when I'm in town or something, but realistically, if I want some *real* fun, I plan my day to include a hike in the woods or a bike on some single track. No lamp posts once you leave the pavement. Looks like your in the Colorado area based on your Finds. There has to be some pretty awesome caches in the National Forests and parks in your area. +niraD
Any advice for the best way to filter these out? By size and difficulty maybe? There is no LPC filter, but if you don't mind filtering out some non-LPC caches, you could try filtering out easy (low difficulty rating) micros. The best way to do this is probably to have two PQs: one for everything that is not a micro, and one for the micros that you want. FWIW, I do something similiar with mystery/puzzle caches. My regular PQs do not include any mystery/puzzle caches, and I have a separate PQ for solved mystery/puzzle caches (based on a private bookmark list). I put caches on the solved puzzles bookmark list when I solve the puzzle and enter the solution as the edited coordinates, or when I qualify for a challenge, or when I determine that it's an on-site puzzle, etc. Quote Link to comment
+Markwell
Some filtering that I use: Park and Grab Attribute Both Terrain and Difficulty 1 star Wheelchair Attribute But even then I still take a look at caches. From the ones I've examined empirically through the database in the Chicago area about 75% of the T/D 1/1 caches are "parking lot" caches and about 71% of caches with wheelchair accessible attribute are "parking lot" caches. I've also just determined myself that Park-and-Grab caches are pretty much "parking lot". With so many other caches to find I avoid these. Within 20 miles of my home about 46% of the active caches are ones I've identified as "parking lot". That still leaves me hundreds to to find that aren't. There are probably some great caches that are "Park and Grab" that aren't parking lot caches. I could end up "over-filtering". The real game changer was when I realized that even if I *AM* over-filtering, I've still got TONS of caches that are available to find with the whittled down selection. Quote Link to comment
+jellis
Most LPCs are urban and usually rated 1 or 1.5. Try going for some hikes or parks. Get away from urban caches. Quote Link to comment
