To the OP: See the stamp in the letterbox you logged? The pink rubber thing resting on the inside of the ammo can lid? That's what makes it a letterbox. Quote Link to comment

+justintim1999
Letterboxing and Geocaching are similar but two separate games. Both require you to find a container. In geocaching you use a gps to find the container. In letterboxing written clues are used. Letterboxing uses carved rubber stamps. Typically there is one in each box or plant you find. The idea is to bring with you your own personal rubber stamp, a stamp pad and a stamp book. when you find a letterbox you take the stamp that's in the box and stamp your book (remember to leave the stamp in the container, it's not a trade item). When you find a box that has a log book you would stamp your own personal stamp in the log book and sign it. See www.atlasquest.com for more info. A letterbox hybrid is a cross between a letterbox and geocache. You use a gps to find it like a geocache but it contains a stamp like a letterbox. Quote Link to comment

There are many (including mine) where the GPS leads you to a starting location. Then you use letterboxing hints to find the actual container. Quote Link to comment
