eric4bell
Just out of curiosity. I have been geocaching in the wilderness a couple times with friends, but I was curious if people put geocaches in cities too? Like big cities, in abandoned buildings, rooftops, alleyways, and just anywhere secluded but hidden in plain site! This not only interests me for the cool geocache finds, but also for cool locations in the city! Quote Link to comment
+T.D.M.22
There's caches everywhere. Including the bottom of my the ocean and on the space station. Quote Link to comment
+Gitchee-Gummee
You should put one on Mars... people are being selected for the first colony! Edit to add: but then, you might have to go too, as maintenance might be a problem. Edited February 20, 2015 by Gitchee-Gummee Quote Link to comment
+Malemotives
One of the best geocaches I have found is in DownTown Santa Barbara, CA. Not a Big city, certainly a Busy and Beautiful one. Quote Link to comment

I'm sure there are many. Quote Link to comment

+dprovan
Yes, there are caches in cities, but if there are any in abandoned buildings in cities, I'd like to hear about it. Sometimes people manage to find a roof top that's open to the public, but it's rare, and probably even more rare now that permission requirements have been tightened up. There are some in alleys, but most people complain about hiding caches in alleys when the alleys are as rugged as the wilderness. So the specific ideas you've mentioned, I haven't seen hardly at all. But the answer to the more general question is that there are many hides in cities, and cities do offer some unique opportunities for clever hides. Although in my experience, 80% of all city hides are in free newspaper boxes, and almost half of those are in exactly the same spot: magnetically attached at the top of the back of the coin box. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. Quote Link to comment
+MountainWoods
Yep. Folks put caches in big cities. There has to be something interesting to do when you visit the city! Quote Link to comment
+BAMBOOZLE
Tons of caches in cities but traffic, parking, and tons of muggles just about ruin it for us. We enjoy caching in small towns and especially the back country. Quote Link to comment
+TheWeatherWarrior
Look at Tampa, Florida. One of the best (most saturated) urban cities in the US. Its growing too....with more larger containers too. Quote Link to comment
+popokiiti
At a certain zoom level, it looks like Victoria, BC is carpeted with caches. We grabbed two while we were in town today. Quote Link to comment
+Trucker Lee
We put them in small cities too. I have one in front of the Visitor's Center just half block from the courthouse. Quote Link to comment
+Bushwalker53
The city near me is absolutely full of geocaches! The main problem I find is the muggles, and trying to get good satellite reception with all the tall buildings around. I haven't really cached much in the city but most I've found in there have been in lane ways or side streets, a bit dodgy late at night! Quote Link to comment
+BeorntheViking
Definitely! I work in Boston MA and there is a ton of caches in the area! Nothing too big though. Quote Link to comment
+NYPaddleCacher
It really depends on the city. I've cached in some big cities where there were hundreds if not thousands of caches and other big cites where there were only one or two caches in the entire city and less than 20 caches in the entire country.
