LugNut1
I bought a etrex 10 from a pawn shop for $45. I'm really happy with it. For the most part its spot on. My question is how do I delete an entry on my geocache list with out marking it as found? Quote Link to comment
GeoTrekker26
One way to delete geocaches from your eTrex is to do so via your computer while it is hooked up to the computer. You will need to know the GC code of the cache you want to delete as that is the file name. There are other ways but they require the use of additional software. Quote Link to comment
Gitchee-Gummee
It's not easily done on that unit. It has to do with the GARMIN/GPX file. Usually, one would either delete all data and reload new data -or- run a new Pocket Query and load that new data which would overwrite the old. If you are concerned about a geocache which you had already 'Found It', an overwrite would take care of it. With that unit, it is the most efficient method of preventing an overload within the unit, which has a 500 geocache capacity. When one approaches that number, things-begin-to-slow-down and CAN result in the unit locking up. Besides that, because of the limited memory (non-expandable), replacing outdated data (every two/three weeks) is a good maintenance plan anyway -- and, it is advisable to NEVER try and stuff the total 500 geocaches into it anyway. Older generation eTrex models would allow for individual deletions, but then, I don't believe they used the GARMIN/GPX (mass) file. Quote Link to comment
roenw
Plug into your computer, find the device, find cache folders, and delete. Quote Link to comment
MountainWoods
Install the free BaseCamp program from Garmin, connect the device to your PC, and you'll be able to see each Geocache, waypoint, track, route, and so on, in BaseCamp. You can then do whatever you'd like to do with each item. In fact, you may want to use BaseCamp to keep your data in your PC's BaseCamp database. I do that for everything. Just an idea.
