Downloading a paid app on a second device

I have been a premium member for many years and have the original AND new apps on my iPhone. I paid for the app several years ago. Now, I would like to add the app to my new iPad. When I go to the list of downloaded apps in the Apple Store, the geocaching app does not appear on my list. Therefore, I can't download without paying again. Is there a work around or do I have to shell out again for a second device?

I deleted it from my iPad and iPhone years ago, but it still appears in my list of purchased apps (iPhone apps) - I downloaded it to the iPad just to test it out. If you have an option to download it, but it does not show up in your list of purchased apps, you shouldn't be charged if you are using the same account. I have reinstalled several apps that I once bought but did not show up in the purchased list, and have never had a problem (although it is somewhat of a leap of faith).

Yes, I see it and it's still there! Switch from "iPad Apps" to "IPhone Apps" (by tapping the blue "iPad Apps" link in your list of purchased Apps). If the OP wants it, go install it. It supposedly won't be hanging around forever.

Thank you for the replies. When I go to iPhone apps, I now see both of the geocaching icons. But, it says iPhone only and won't let me download on my iPad. I guess that's the answer. The app doesn't work on an iPad. At least I like to use it on my phone so all is well. Thanks again for responding.

You may not be able to download it at all. I not only don't see it in my "purchased" list, I don't see it in the App Store. Just as with several other Apps I've purchased, it may have been removed.

:)

The site said that it wasn't available to download from the store after March.

Surprised so many are interested in it now, when it's only gonna be around for a little over a month ( and then it's until something breaks).

The best part is, "updates to your phone may cause the app's features to stop working". :D

I installed it on my "Wifi-only 4th Gen Retina Display iPad" to test it for the purposes of this thread. Maybe the App can be installed only on a small range of iPads, not newer ones. But even on mine with no built-in GPSr, it still works OK.

Yeah. GS might even hold off rolling out a new App features while the old paid App is still functional.

With all the gripe threads/posts almost daily, it may not be that far-fetched.

No pressing need when folks here are saying, "well, luckily/as long as I still have classic..." (even at least one Reviewer).

That classic app quits because "their phone was updated", and whatever resoning for rushing out this new one won't matter much. :)
