Bug in Cache DB Listing -- 2 different states reported

I am reviewing a Tennessee state challenge cache, and one person has reported a cache with an unusual issue.

The cache is: GCNPHD (These Boots Got alot of Ground to Cover)

When you look at the cache page, it's reported state is TENNESSEE. And the cacher wants credit for the cache in Tennessee.

However, when you click on the "Tennessee" link on the cache page, a map comes up and shows the cache in North Carolina.

When you query the cache database through Geocaching Live, the cache region comes back as "North Carolina."

So there is a discrepancy on what state has this cache depending on how you access geocaching.com's data.

No discrepancy. The state is an editable field on the submission form. The state could be listed as New York and that is what will come up on the listing. Both the map and project-gc use the coordinates of the cache to show the cache location. You could ask the CO to update his listing but probably won't happen. You could send a request to the frog and ask that the listing be corrected. Might happen. Or if you can track down a reviewer for the area you could ask the reviewer. I had one like that once. The reviewer eventually corrected the listing.

Since the cache is literally right at the border between the two states, if I was the reviewer for TN or NC I would be quite reluctant to overrule the CO's choice, made nearly nine years ago, for the sake of someone's compliance with challenge cache requirements. Your reviewer's mileage may vary.

I found one that was on the Nevada/California border and it was clearly on the Nevada side. In South Lake Tahoe there are a few casinos that start right at the border and the cache was on the casino side of a fence (yes, it was in a parking lot but it was way behind the casino near a wooded area). When I logged the cache I noticed that the CO had listed it as California and after reading some logs which also mentioned that they thought it should be in Nevada I also mentioned it in my log. A short time later the CO changed it to Nevada. It remains as my only find in Nevada.
