Markers of former/historic borders

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

there used to be a historic border between Altona (back in the old days the second largest city of the Kingdom of Denmark) and Hamburg. Altona today is just a district of Hamburg, finally incorporated in 1937. But the old state border is still visible by border stones integrated into modern pavement. This is a piece of fascinating history that one can only find in Europe, I guess:

The group managers of "Border Crossings" declined it, saying that it's not an existing border. Depending on what you defind as a border, it's still the border between two city districts in the end but well, they just don't want it in their category.

I was looking for an alternative but haven't found one yet. Can anyone help me please?

Thanks, Alex
