Garmin communicator not recognised by geocaching.com

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Don't know if anyone can help.

Mac mini running os Sierra 10.12.2

Safari 10.0.2

Using a Garmin etrex 10.

Tried connecting this today to send some caches to GPS, but Mac wouldn't talk to etrex.

Clicked on "send to gps" and I get a dialogue box saying "Garmin Communicator Plug In NOT Detected".

Clicked on download and install now and the site software.Garmin.com tells me "you have Communicator Plugin, devices detected etrex 10".

Tried downloading and reinstalling plugin. No joy.

Tried chrome and Firefox, neither seem to accept the plugin either.

Also tried enabling plugins in the preferences for Safari too. Still nothing.

Never had this issues before, I don't know what has changed.

I see some others have had a similar issue and have found a work around by downloading gpx files and dumping them straight on the etrex, but frankly that's a total arse ache and not a proper solution.

Any guesses anyone?

Many thanks,

Jez.

Recently, Mac users have mentioned that it has become quite difficult to keep "Send to My GPS" running. Apple is shutting down plugins that are security risks, and several major web browsers are following suit. You may review the many, many threads on the subject here in the Forum, and see if any tricks still work. Or manually place the files. If you did that, you'd be done by now. :anicute:

Download the GPX file using the “GPX File” button on a cache page, or unzip a Pocket Query for GPX files. Place the GPX files into the “Garmin/GPX” folder of the GPSr.

For an Etrex 10, depending on how much data you store, you also must manage the number of files and the memory they occupy. Delete old files from the “Garmin/GPX” folder to free up space, place new ones.
